Valerie @valerie.computer · 07/10/2026If I see you on a $900 Chromebook I'm gonna assume you're tech illiterate or it's a company/school device. If I see you on a Steam Deck (as a laptop alternative) I'm going to KNOW you're a larper. 110
Valerie @valerie.computer · 28/09/2026Same, white feels like too much of an attention grabber for me lol 000
Valerie @valerie.computer · 28/09/2026I like these! There's more going on than the 1a at least. Tbh my headphones are slowly dying so these might go on my list. 110
Valerie @valerie.computer · 05/09/2026I was foolishly caught Googling balls on my work computer. My boss, Cyborg Larry Page, didn't fire me. Instead, he asked the (innovative) question of: "What if we took this more literally" So, we "Googled" some balls we found in the office. The rest is history. 031

Valerie @valerie.computer · 28/08/2026Just keep an ungoogled fork around for updating, acting like it's unusable because you have to use something Chromium-based is beyond pointless lol. 010
Valerie @valerie.computer · 28/08/2026Probably so that you can use WebUSB, to update your 8bitdo controllers (Keychron also handle their management this way). This makes their tools almost entirely cross platform, and not going to be left unmaintained on Linux. Would you rather run a proprietary firmware updater "app"? 110
Valerie @valerie.computer · 28/08/2026Fun fact: Chromium (and many browsers based on it) work on Linux! :D 111

Valerie @valerie.computer · 07/08/2026Yeah the SOC on here kind of pisses me off, mainly in battery life. But the colour is cute and it can run Graphene, so good enough 000
Valerie @valerie.computer · 07/08/2026I'm one of the moderators there (Not that I look too often, it's a cess pit most of the time even without the AI lol). Loads of redditors fucking love AI, we have to remove so much slop advice it's insane. 010

Valerie @valerie.computer · 21/07/2026Smaller projects can probably just outright ban it, which good! But there's some threshold where you've got to accept even something thoroughly reviewed IS going to slip through the cracks. That's unfortunate. I don't like it. But you can't put a DNI in your readme and expect AI bros to respect it 🤷 000
Valerie @valerie.computer · 21/07/2026I don't like AI, nobody does, but I'm yet to see a solid way to keep it PROPERLY out of projects other than just "Well, ask nicely and people won't. If you think that doesn't work, you're *kiiiinda* Hitler, sorry!". 230

Valerie @valerie.computer · 13/07/2026If you can tell me what meaningful changes this has made to Fedora (and Bazzite, because keep in mind they have the capability to change anything about Fedora as a base) I'll bite. if not then this is just FUD. 100
