I clearly recall 16, one reason we didn't even think about buying a house for years (plus we moved from a low-cost area to 2 very high-priced areas). Houses weren't as pricey but also smaller, fewer frills. My dad paid 8.5% in 1975 on a $50K & he thought that was awful. :) 010
