My mother is Italian descent Roman Catholic lol. Her grand parents were immigrants (maybe great grandparents, I don't quite remember). To the extent that her defense against the idea of White privilege is that we're not white*. The Italian immigrant desire to be white hit my family *hard*

A leftist, fundamentally, seeks Justice above all else. We do want comfort, but we are willing to face discomfort in the struggle for justice. You might not agree with a leftist's sense of justice (I disagree with some leftists over what would be just), but it is fundamentally what drives us.

It's interesting for a couple reasons- -It threads a nice needle of "Lanterns are Space Cops" and "The Black guy isn't becoming a cop," tho, we'll see how that works out. -I don't think John's ever had a yellow ring in the comics, and I guess he technically doesn't here, but... well, we'll see.

The lantern is tainted by that fear, making it, at best, a sort of green/yellow fusion, and John somewhere between a Green and Yellow Lantern. John tells Guy (and the guardians) to fuck off and cover all of 2814, except Earth, which John will cover, independent of the Corps (and Guardians)

2- When you have to replicate, or even just represent, a thing, like, say, a spider, look at the photo reference you're given! Like, christ, Spiders have two body segments, and the legs are attached to the one with the head, not the ass! Ditto Scorpions, which you need the photo ref for even more!

Older versions of the Monk class definitely have a bunch of "exotic asia" sinophobic shit, even into 3.X, tho it was starting to improve by then (hell, the 3.X iconic monk is a black woman named Ember, dressed in a very culturally agnostic martial arts outfit). Not too sure about newer editions.
