Definitely not apropos of Sark’s salary but on most days we don’t have paper towels in our @utaustin.bsky.social restrooms. Would be willing to not call end arounds on 4th and 2 at the end of halves leading to 7-14pt swings in return for either $10M or a roll of paper towels…

France knew beating England 5-0 in a meaningless match would be, well, meaningless. But spotting England four goals and then winning 5-4? That might end England as a country.

The @utaustin.bsky.social IT is so amazingly bad that we cannot access the *Army* Research Office website from campus. We have to submit our program reports from home. The thing you learn about authoritarian regimes (at macro or micro scales) is that they actually can’t make the trains run on time

Was early to pick up wife and daughter at the airport, so hopped on to an @austinenergy.bsky.social fast charger in the cell phone lot, and put 100 miles on the car in 10-15 minutes for less than $3.75. Just crazy how much better EVs are in every sense…

There’s been a lot of talk in this race about what makes a "real man." A man does what’s right when no one is watching. He upholds his commitments to his family and neighbors. He doesn’t lie, cheat, & steal his way through life. Real men serve others. Weak men serve themselves.

It’s been “0” days since my university has publicly embarrassed itself. I wonder if he’ll talk about the part of the declaration that demands one take undisclosed bribes from oligarchs to coincidentally rule in their favor??

Amazing. My students do extensive repeated cleans on samples b/c the building’s HVAC system spits black dust all over the labs. Experiments are done under a tarp b/c the roof leaks. But @utaustin.bsky.social will spend >300K on a speechwriter b/c we have a pres. who knows nothing about higher ed

The latest from our group in ACS Photonics: doi.org/10.1021/acsp... Led by Research Associate Zarko Sakotic, we show that we can fabricate metal films that mimic the behavior of atomically thin metals, but with a fraction of the loss! This enables plasmonic response out to the mid-IR,

Not a great sign when a basketball coach can offer a more spirited defense of academic freedom than @utaustin.bsky.social which has gone radio silent …and yes I know Steve Kerr is not just any bball coach…he’s actually, on paper, more qualified to be President of UT than Jim Davis, current pres.

It’s great to see a school actually do the right thing, but there is a part of me that is so ashamed of the response of my institution @utaustin.bsky.social in comparison. Our administration can’t even muster an anodyne statement of support for the mission of higher ed.

So they have revoked the visas now of multiple students in our dept and across the engineering school. No one knows why, it is speculated that in some cases, because of past moving violations!! Where is @utaustin.bsky.social as students plucked from labs and classrooms? Dead silence. Crickets.

Apparently I am now an enemy of the state! My home state podcaster/senator put together a list of "woke" NSF awards which I am proud to say I made three times!! This notoriety is for an award that helps to cover registration for students attending an electronic materials conference.

Two things can be true: this guy was the epitome of everything wrong with higher ed administration AND his replacement is likely to be far far worse. Three things really, if the third is: University administrators are loyal only to that 💰💰💰

Schematic of ITO nanocrystals on top of a photonic cavity. Illustration of different regimes of optical coupling depending on the magnitude of the real conductivity ranging from under to over coupled and producing distinct lineshapes in the absorption spectrum. Broadband absorption achieved from a dual-peaked real conductivity spectrum.
