Despite a 100 mile trip, my grandson built up 6 home pts last season (2 friendlies, 2 U21s & 2 Women's). Not even enough for the only home #afcb friendly unless it goes to 1 point. He may end the season with fewer points than he started with. Disappointing!

I tried Instagram. It’s all about photos. My 12 year old grandson got me to try TikTok. It didn’t last long! Getting fed up with the amount of ads, reels and stuff I have no interest in on Facebook. I’m edging closer to returning to the 1990s! 😂

It’s disappointing. I came here 6 mths ago and initially it looked hopeful. Not posted on my X acct since Jan and don’t plan to - though I still look at it daily. I’m rapidly coming to the notion of baling out of all social media. It needed the club to make the move. It was fun while it lasted.

Hypothetical question about #afcb ticket price. They didn’t go up for 6/7 years before we got to the PL. If we’d never made it and were still in L1/2, would they be: a) lower, to attract a full crowd to see that level of football; or b) higher, as it would be our main revenue source?

Fun fact: Leicester finished on 25pts and a GD of -47. It means Enes Unal's stunning 90th min equaliser v West Ham on 16th Dec (GW 16) made us 'retrospectively' mathematically safe! That is 6 game weeks earlier than our previous best last year.

#afcb bought Dean Huijsen from Juventus for £12.8m; Sold to Real Madrid for £50m; 10% of profit to Juventus (£3.72m). If he plays the whole game on Sunday he’ll have played 2,500 PL mins. That is a profit of £13,392 per minute!

It was just an analogy. As we’ve said already, the 1st to offer £50m gets to discuss with him. He doesn’t have to accept so while he is considering it another club could bid more. It IS linked to financial regs as the rich clubs can’t just splash the cash with consequences.

So why do auctions work? A ‘thing’ is worth whatever someone is prepared to pay for it. If someone wanted DH very much they could in theory have gone down that road. In the days before financial regulations that is what would have happened.

Yes I realise players have a right to refuse but whether they do or not it would never work out well for any party. We have all heard of players sold against their will because the club needs the money etc. Not a lot of difference between “refusing” and “agreeing begrudgingly”

I guess it depends if the release clause is ‘first one to offer £50m gets him’ but knowing several clubs might have been prepared to offer it, then one club might have offered more. As we say, he wanted RM so anyone else would know that.

Yes I realise that but the stopper was Dean expressing his preference. The release clause was just the level at which we couldn’t say no. If another club had bid, say, £60m we would have been allowed to accept it even if he didn’t want to go there. But we are not that sort of club.

2024/25 is the first PL season #afcb have not even flirted with relegation. We have never been lower than 14th - match week 2 after 2 draws. (It should've been 6th but for Dango's 'handball goal'!) In fact, since beating Spurs in match week 14 we have not been out of the top half.

Everton, Man Utd, Spurs, Wolves & West Ham all won cups in the 50s & 60s, have massive stadiums and yet #afcb will finish above all of them in the world’s greatest league. That can’t be right. Something HAS to be done about the stupid points system. It’s ruining the game.

The bleach argument fails miserably in my view. We’re far better off with a bleach killing 99% than 0%. If only VAR could demonstrate the same level of achievement. I think it will get there. It would be sooner if refs didn’t close ranks and were not so stubborn about improvements suggestions.

I didn’t offer “we get more right than wrong” as an argument in support of VAR. I said, albeit not very clearly, that there are fewer wrong calls with VAR than without it. I’m sure can both cite blatantly wrong offside calls from many years ago. Not so many now. Agree about matters of opinion…

Trouble with that and Eva’s is we may or may not have won/stayed up. It’s Dango’s that grates. As with Liverpool winner in game 2 of 15/16. PGMOL’s “Yes you are right. You should’ve won” is meaningless. I’m still a fan of VAR. It fixes more than it gets wrong. It’s humans that are the problem.

Good news re Eva! We know #afcb can’t get the pts back even though we ‘know’ we would’ve held on. But… If such an error caused a club to miss a title or get relegated (as in 2020), would/could they sue? “It’s always us”, “club badge” etc, but is there any data on such things for all clubs?

Thanks. I missed the bit about end of next season. I also think there will have been discussions at several levels. Not having Tory MPs is a help but we’ll see. They would be extremely unpopular with a lot of local people if they turn us down.
