Pen, watercolor, black & white charcoal pencil.

Another featured piece from the Spooky Pants book.

A man in a sweater stands with his hands on his hips looking out of a large window with the curtains open. Things aren’t looking good outside, reader. A massive winged demon is emerging from the clouds as dozens of little ghosts and bone demons rip through the sky. On the ground below we see townsfolk running through the grass. Our man in the window is in no mood for this. He lets us know, “Oh, I am in no mood for this.” His dog looks out the window as well, wagging its tail.

Fantasia (1940) inspired drawing. I think I could’ve gone a little heavier with the chaos outside but we’ll try again with fresh drawings this October. I like how the clouds turned out. Trying to balance my sloppy lines with more detail can be tricky but I think we achieved a good result.

My employment was threatened today because of my attitudes towards AI ("I do not respect anyone who uses ChatGPT"). Said (by someone who isn't in that position but thinks he is) that companies are "firing people because it's cheaper to use AI"

Disappointed by the patch I received from an indie press. Not even a semi-decently embroidered one, but one seemingly printed on material. Glad to support independent writers and an independent, anti-AI press that is promoting them, but man.

Requested my mail-in ballot for November's election last night. Thinking I may hold off on sending it in and just dropping it off in person to guarantee it gets there. I don't think electoralism really matters much, but I definitely hate Ben Cline enough to try.

The worst thing white people ever did was infect the world with the idea that solidarity is transactional and that you should only support another's struggle for rights and equality if it's reciprocal or you get something in return. That turns human rights into a barter system.

And just because I'm feeling petty, I want to say it is real grand that during ICE's most horrifically successful summer, No Kings has done absolutely nothing this entire time. No marches. No events. Nothing. All they have now is a landing page vaguely encouraging voting and a email sign up.

This is unironically - and astonishingly almost verbatim - Gul Dukat's genocidal rant against the Bajorans in the Deep Space Nine episode "Waltz."
There is a persistent idea in certain circles that if Israel improved living conditions for Palestinians – more jobs, better infrastructure, freer movement, greater economic opportunity – the violence would fade.

Treat them kindly, the argument goes, and they will eventually come around to peace. A heavy hand, by contrast, only breeds resentment and fuels more attacks. This sounds compassionate on the surface, but it is also deeply flawed, and the evidence against it has piled up for generations.

I do miss that sliver of time where Pagan-on-Pagan drama resulted in intellectual debates and tracts trying to one-up each other. Now it's all character assassinations by flunkies, then it was lengthy tirades vaguely insinuating the other was some kind of toxic individualist.
