He had a prolonged poor spell last season. Fan base was wondering whether he’d been played too much and needed resting. Emery stuck with him and he got his form back. He had a very long season last year, might impact him?

It’s unsettling of course but I trust Unai more than I have trusted any previous manager.

Yes I am thanks. First Poplar Hawk-Moth this morning which was great.

The ‘deal’ that never was. It would have made zero sense for Villa.

I had a really poor return too, surprised me.

010

John Dawson @uselessangler.bsky.social · 18/07/2026

I’d be the same. It took me ages to learn how to say Guessand by which time he was out on loan.

John Dawson @uselessangler.bsky.social · 13/07/2026

He’s been so consistent and a great attitude too. Yes FFP is king for us but we have got an ageing squad and we’ve got to address that. Lucas Digne is 33 next week.

I’ve got every faith things will be fine. They are sensibly addressing the ageing squad issue. No need to be panicking.

John Dawson @uselessangler.bsky.social · 13/07/2026

I’m ok with these departures. Been great for us but we must address the ageing squad issue.

I heard young calling in Staffordshire UK a few days ago. Didn’t realise they are fending for themselves by now.

Uneven bounce? (Cricket reference)

As a Villa fan I wasn’t disappointed at all

… but what about our Xg? 🤣🤣🤣

I thought it wouldn’t be good but that is ridiculous 😳

Leipzig lost their previous away game 4-1 so I’m trying not to fret.

John Dawson @uselessangler.bsky.social · 16/05/2026

It’s a great read, well done! Gave me a great understanding of the brilliant Unai.

Win or lose next Wednesday we will be utter rubbish last game.

010

John Dawson @uselessangler.bsky.social · 13/05/2026

…. and it was guaranteed you could go with friends or family

John Dawson @uselessangler.bsky.social · 13/05/2026

Apart from the match ticket lottery there is accommodation and flights to stress over. Back in ‘82 it was just a coach to and from Rotterdam for me with no stay.

I’m surprised Elliot hasn’t been used in this period when we are struggling. Can’t see any surprises coming in the line up, I’m feeling pessimistic.

000

John Dawson @uselessangler.bsky.social · 03/05/2026

What’s depressing for me is that their squad has cost a fortune and is far deeper than ours.

010

John Dawson @uselessangler.bsky.social · 03/05/2026

Emi will have to save 4 then. I feel a Tranmere type night coming on.

000

John Dawson @uselessangler.bsky.social · 03/05/2026

I think we will win on penalties Thursday and beat Burnley. Was expecting to lose tonight due to the timing but what a gutless effort

John Dawson @uselessangler.bsky.social · 29/04/2026

Nor me, don’t think it’s been a question of effort, more form and confidence

010

John Dawson @uselessangler.bsky.social · 29/04/2026

I went to that, one of my first games. Don’t think there were subs back then?

Think you can forget that home win when useless Dyche was their manager.

000

John Dawson @uselessangler.bsky.social · 23/04/2026

Did you see it? Went under the dive of the keeper…. Lucky!

110

John Dawson @uselessangler.bsky.social · 18/04/2026

I remember it well. It’s actually Allan Evans. Alun Evans played for Villa in the early 1970’s

000

John Dawson @uselessangler.bsky.social · 12/04/2026

It’s very good (and free!). Enough bones to keep an 8 year old interested I reckon. chronologicaI layout, I found this fascinating, a bit heavy if you are young? Great section on crystals and geology too. Parking in area is quite pricey. Train to university and short walk is a good option.

Thanks, I’ll check it out again later

Lesser Swallow Prominent (I think) from my Staffs garden last night. Only started with the trap last autumn so another ‘new for me’ moth #teammoth

Hundreds of Sand Martin through Blithfield this morning followed by a few Swallow. Pair of Greater Scaup, Kittiwake showed well by causeway. Ruddy shelduck in fields with 2 Egyptian Geese. Nice to hear a singing Blackcap. @staffsbirdnews.bsky.social
