It has nothing to do with shame and more with a dying craft

You have this wrong- the planets are not round, flat just like earth but arranged carousel style so that we think they’re round! Clever how we are being deceived😜

Why did she drive away? I'm not saying ICE was correct but has the US not learned anything? Too many guns - people shoot first and ask questions later.

Took me 110 minutes to put this together! Merry x-mas!

I don’t think it gas anything to do with security and everything with Nvidia’s profit. Here is the thing: Huawei will catch up to Nvidia eventually, so this could also help to prolong the advantage

Well, nobody said you don’t need actual programmers. Vibe coding is for programmers that know what they are doing. It’s improving productivity when used wisely.

Not very reassuring. Where is the Democrats fight slogan?

Or it shows the dependence on foreign nations. So, yeah this will hurt. But maybe it should. The US did this before in the 1980s with the Japanese import cars... and guess what, the Japanese started to produce in the US.

The point is that they are illegal immigrants. The real question is why? We sort of need them but don't really want them? Or is it that these are jobs, nobody else would want to do, and you just sort of tolerate this? What is it?

I’m not defending, but Musk follows first principles - the same thing that got his rockets to land. So I interpret this as follows: in evolutionary terms, we could grow bigger brains if we weren’t limited by the birth canal.

That’s not correct. There are 8! US, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay and Venezuela. In some countries in Europe it varies based on several factors but just being born doesn’t do it.

Who says it’s only the father?

Urs Gubser @urs.tribecans.com · 10/12/2024

I for one think that’s a good thing. The US is one very few countries that still do this but it’s no longer necessary. I think Trump’s kids would still be American because typically it follow the status the parents.

It depends what product we're talking about. There are substitues but the hope or the idea is that the imports will be more expensive than the domestic variety. There's a bit of a precedence for this: in the 1980s the US did the same with Japanese cars, they ended up producing locally.

Urs Gubser @urs.tribecans.com · 25/11/2024

It sort of makes sense. Yes, tarifs will make imports more expensive and that hurts consumers. But the goal of this excercise is to make it so painful for Chinese companies so that they decide to either move out of China or move to the US and produce locally.

The funny thing is, that this is probably more historically acurate, given that there were powerful men in the Roman empire with origins in Africa. But this very idea is controversial, so Hollywood has been lying to us for a long time...

This is the 2nd time I'm using a federated social network that leverages W3C protocols. This time with my own PDS. Would anyone care to tell me the differnce between this and Mastodon?
