We visited Mount Rushmore today. At first it was fogged in so we went to the cafe and gift shop while some of the fog lifted.

Drop an album that was important to you when you were 19. Technically, I was 18 but turned 19 later in the year.

It has been a beautiful sunny day. I have thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the patio watching the birds and an occasional jet heading to the airport over in Virginia.

Without saying your age, what was your favorite film that came out when you were 20 years old?

I have wanted to go to a barber for a while and get my head shaved by a professional and my mustache/goatee tidied up. It has been 30/31 years since I last went to a barber. I was pleased with the results. I will continue to do it myself but will go back as a treat now and then.

Am I the only one who cannot watch a scary movie at night alone 😱? I can watch them fine in the daylight or if someone is in the room with me.

I attended my aunt's funeral Friday. She was 91 and had Alzheimer's disease. It was sad to hear my cousin telling me how she was the first one forgotten out of the six kids by my aunt because she was the youngest. Alzheimer's disease is hell for everyone.

It was a beautiful day today. It is now at its highest temperature of the day, 82°F/27°C, and humidity at 29%. Low humidity in the summer is a rare treat. I mowed the grass today. It takes a while, but I put on my headphones and music, and away I go.

It is 100F/37C today in this part of Maryland. The heat index is 108F/42C, and surprisingly the humidity is only 37%.

It was a beautiful day. I am delighted the summer humidity has not kicked in yet. I sat on the patio in the shade for a while enjoying the birds, squirrels and a nice breeze.

It is a beautiful day sitting on the patio in the shade. There is a nice breeze too.

Blue sky with big puffy white clouds. Green trees, green grass, green corn growing in the background and a brown wood fence with black wire around this portion of the yard. In the background right of the pic is wheat changing to a golden yellow color from green.

Don’t skip! Post you in another country.

A very cool windy day in the Bahama’s in early 1983. I was with my parents for a long weekend. The only time I have been out of the country. The locals wore baggies on their hands and head to keep warm.

Name your favorite black and white film. A Tale of Two Cities (1935) Set during the French Revolution, it follows the story of Sydney Carton, a disillusioned lawyer who falls for Lucie Manette, the wife of Charles Darnay. He makes a selfless sacrifice to save Darnay from the guillotine.

Some of my family visited with my cousins on Maryland’s Eastern Shore yesterday. They have a historic post windmill that is about to undergo a restoration. It will be great to see the sails back on and running. Afterward, a little sightseeing and a late lunch before heading home.

🎉 Today is one year since I retired after 34 years. It has been a good year. I have kept myself busy and have plenty of downtime too. I felt guilty leaving and sometimes have work dreams about having to go back. Overall it was the best decision, no regrets.

Went through the car wash this morning. My truck really needed a bath.

Colors of blue, pink and yellow on the windshield during the carwash.
