The word of the day is "restaurant" and, if can you believe it, this farming game has restaurants in it! Eat a delicious meal or head into the kitchen and cook your own! Make small snacks you can eat on the go, quick bites you can eat during battle, and hearty meals that you need to eat immediately.

In a restaurant, the head chef Kent says "Enjoy your Sweet Smoked Salmon!" The player is sitting at a table holding a large salmon filet in her hands.

A restaurant purchasing menu. Four different dishes are available, with the selected one being Roasted Corn Soup. It fills a third of your stomach and has an effect that lasts for 3 battles. The effect is described as "Endless Summer: All summer crops are 25% more powerful, regardless of the current season." The head chef of the restaurant Kent says "This soup is perfect for bringing warmth and much needed summer flavors to a cold winter day."

A cooking menu, where the player is deciding on what recipe to cook in a frying pan. The “Mushroom Stir Fry” recipe is selected. In the middle of the frying pan is a grid of ingredients; the dish requires a carrot, garlic, and two mushrooms of any type. A detail panel on the right reads: Mushroom Stir Fry. Can be eaten outside or combat. Chopped mushrooms, fried with carrot, garlic, and other seasonings. Lean Protein. Satiety: 2 saitiety. Lasts for: 4 battles. The power of lean protein allows you to eat more Quick Bites during combat, using 1FP less than usual!

Today's Devtober prompt is "member," and if you're looking for PARTY members, then we've got you covered! Each party member has their own unique abilities. With Velthur's position manipulation, CC's field enhancements, and Percy's pickling, every friend you make changes the game! #indieDev #godot

The player stands in front of her party member CC, who has a compost ratio of 7 to 5. They have two abilities: Collect, which lets the player gather plants and weeds on the field and dd them to the compost pile, and Spread, which adds prepared compost to the field.

CC is wearing a black shirt with a checkered ska heart in the center and has blue and purple hair. They are skanking.

The player stands in front of her party member Velthur, who has two abilities: Blood Donor, which attacks one target and recovers health from the attack, and Callback, which attacks an entire row of the enemy field, pulling enemies closer to the player.

Velthur is a tan skinned man with long black hair and a formal red jacket. He is flailing his arms in the air.

Today's Devtober word is "politics" and, unfortunately, this game is not political at all, so I can't share any relevant images. So here's four completely random apolitical screenshots from Uprooted. Enjoy! #gamedev #indiedev #godot #farmingGames #screenshotSaturday

A man is tied to a chair being forced to watch a projected video. A person on the video says "That's what they want you to think! Human Resources is what looks out for workers! Unions just want to take your money to fill their own pockets!"

A man is tied to a chair being forced to watch a projected video. A person on the video says "That makes sense... ItsWay is the one that gives me money, and a union wants to take it? I guess I know who's REALLY on my side!"

In a warehouse, several workers stare angrily at a laptop. The laptop, which has an AI assistant on it, says "I... I... paychecks? What about a pizza party, everybody? The whole warehouse can spend the rest of the day in the break room with free pizza!"

A podcast is being recorded. On one side is Bacon, a man with a big beard and bigger sunglasses. On the other side are the player character, Ayana, and her friend Percy. Bacon says "Well I had a uest on last week who said the exact opposite, and he sounded VERY confident, so I think I'm gonna have to disagree with you there."

Today's Devtober word is "hotel." There are many inns to rest and recover health at, but there's only one Christmas Hotel, where it's Christmas 24/7! Also, the air conditioners are busted, so the floor is slippery and frozen. Hope you like sliding ice puzzles! #gamedev #indiedev #godot #farmingGames

The player looks at presents under a Christmas tree in a hotel. One present is labeled "Real Present Decoration For Businesses Fake Gift Box Empty Decor Christmas Cheer Tree Single Piece Present Box."

The player stands at the entrance of the Christmas hotel. A receptionist waits at a front desk wrapped in christmas lights and a wreath.

Hey what's up kids got a new game for y'all it's called Devtember. Every* day this month, I'll post something from Uprooted related to one of the randomly generated words of my prompt list! Today's prompt is Orange, so, here's an orange! #gamedev #indiedev #godot #farmingGames #oranges

A screenshot of the inventory menu in Uprooted. The "Crops" section is visible, but icons for combat items, food, bottles, fish, and recipes are visible as well. Several crops are visible, with oranges selected.

Details show that the orange is a three-star crop that grows in 40 turns, then regrows every 9 turns after that. It grows best in Spring, and is vulnerable to fire. It has three abilities:

Cure-All: Cures all status effects.
Evergreen: This tree can grow in the winter.
Woody: When cut down, this tree yields three times as much wood as other trees.

Usually a battle is between you and your opponent, but when you're up against Bacon, the viral food vlogger behind the YourNextFavoriteMeal social media empire, your battle is between you, your opponent, their recording crew, and their thousands of viewers! #screenshotSaturday #godotEngine #indieDev

A boss battle in Uprooted. The usual combat UI is framed within an online video stream. The streamer, "YourNextFavoriteMeal" is streaming "Fight Stream: Percy's Pickels and some farmer, I guess" to 2720 viewers. The regular battle UI starts the battle with the text "Bacon reminds the viewers that by subscribing to his PhilanthroFee account they can access his content a week before everyone else!" Bacon, a bearded man with sunglasses and a perpetually raised eyebrow, is standing in a giant hot tub. Behind him, an intern is taking a photo of him on her phone. Against the back wall are several awards for having lots of subscribers, an illuminated "On Air" sign, and a window. Behind the window is a control room where a man watches over the stream with a laptop. On the right side of the streaming frame is a chat, where the following messages are being sent:

v34: whos winning
v27: idk i can't see their health bars
v67: let's get a BACON train going!!!
Several users try to spell out "Bacon" one letter at a time, failing and instead spelling "Bacco7aoonn"
v34: nailed it fellas
v22: i had percys pickles a few days ago they werent even that good!!!
v67: anyone else here eating... wait for it... CAKE??
The last message ends with an emoji of an obnoxious face.

No RPG is complete without a party, and they better follow you around the overworld, or else what's even the point of having them in the first place?! Each party member brings their own unique abilities to your battles, so make sure you meet them all! #screenshotSaturday #godotEngine #indieGames

We have EXCELLENT news for anyone who wants this. Harvest Moon 64 is the primary artistic inspiration of Uprooted! But there's still more work to be done to make it even MORE blocky, and I guarantee: that work will be done. No textures larger than 64x64. No highpoly models. Always make it blockier.

A screenshot of the Uprooted battle screen. The player is fighting a "Kilobyte Buddy" — a robot next to a battery. On the player's field are a ripe carrot, leek, garlic, turnip, and bananas. The player's available actions are Plant, Attack, Item, and Pass.

What is an RPG if not a series of menus that lead to other menus? Every time I make a new menu I am thankful I'm using the #godotEngine, as it makes UI design so much easier than other engines and tools I've used in the past. #screenshotSaturday #indieDev #farmingGames #butNotAFarmingSim

The "Your Community" menu. It shows that the player has met 31% of the people in San Ambrosio, including Rodeo the fisherman, Tanner the car enthusiast, and Velthur the pharmacist, who is currently selected.

The description text reads: "Velthur is a mysterious man who occasionally mentions his life in the old country, but no one can seem to figure out where that is. Sometimes he says things that make it seem like he's a lot older than he looks..."

Below that an info box reads: "I promised to meet Velthur at the Haunted House at the County Fair to help him get his parasol back."

The "Your Farm" menu, depicting the player's field, which includes a ripe corn plant and a mushroom log, which is highlighted. The description reads "You can plant Mushroom Spores on this Fixture, giving you access to a constantly regrowing crop that never rots!"

The "Your Inventory" menu, currently showing combat items. Currently selected is the Stake, which has this description: Places a stake on the soil beneath you. Stakes can provide support to certain crops, making them much stronger and more weather-resistant than they otherwise would be.

A submenu is open to allow the player to sort their inventory by name, price, amount, or a custom sorting.

A farmer is only as good as the crops they grow! In Uprooted, there are dozens of different crops at your disposal, from fruits and vegetables to mushrooms, eggs, paddy crops, and bees! Each with their own stats and abilities. How will you farm? #screenshotSaturday #gameDev #godotEngine #indieDev

A screenshot of the game Uprooted: Meal Replacement Game. The player, a black farmer with pink hair, is thinking about what type of crop to place on a tile of soil on her field. An inventory menu is open showing the available crops. The selected crop is a Peanut, and several details about it are shown. It has a 3.5 star rating, grows in 13 turns, grows well in Spring and poorly in Autumn and Winter. It is immune to salty soil and weak to fire (which is inaccurate! note to self, fix that lmao). It has 3 abilities: soil boost, shell, and fire forged.

What is Uprooted all about, you ask? Well, it all starts with the CTO of a meal replacement beverage startup who won't take no for an answer, siccing his robots on your farm because you refused to sell out to him! Why does a drink company have a robot army? 🤷‍♂️ #screenshotSaturday #gameDev #indieDev

A screenshot from Uprooted: Meal Replacement Game depicting the player, a black woman with pink hair, standing in the center of her farm. Plants are uprooted, soil is destroyed, and a couch is on fire. Two robots look over the destruction.

A robot has approached the player and says "Oh hey you're that farmer I'm supposed to attack! Welp, guess you know what that means! Ha ha!"

What's your favorite part of county fairs? The fried food? The cell phone carriers handing out branded garbage? The stands selling shirts with cartoon characters dressed up as gangsters? Well you can experience all of that in Uprooted: Meal Replacement Game! #screenshotSaturday #gameDev #indieDev

A food stand for "fried tea" that emphasizes that "even the cup!" is fried.

A horse in a pen is painting with a paintbrush in his mouth. A crowd is watching him, and a child says "Mommy, look! The horse is painting! I want to be a horse when I grow up!"

A line of people are waiting in front of a tent labeled "MAGNIFICENT ROCK'S." A man says "Now, son, I know you weren't a fan of the sedimentary rocks I showed you last week, but once you see the metamorphic rocks they have on display here, "boring" will be the last word you use to describe them!"

In Uprooted, there will be many obstacles on your journey: such as a road blocked by a constant stream of delivery trucks! Looks like you'll need to head into the ItsWay warehouse to find out who's responsible! "You Want It? It's On ItsWay!™®²" #screenshotSaturday #gameDev #farmingGame #indieDev

A screenshot from the game Uprooted. The player is blocked by traffic; countless delivery trucks are driving in and out of a warehouse, fully obstructing the road. Behind her is a warehouse worker ordering from a food truck named "Grill you Dairy me?"

Inside the warehouse, the player observes boxes being dropped from the ceiling onto a conveyor belt.

A battle screen. The text at the bottom reads "The warehouse crew attacks!" On a 6x6 grid are two warehouse workers, a robotic arm, and several pallets.
