Sickened and infuriated by what happened in Venezuela. Realized a person can pay their state taxes before federal. Would this be of any benefit to states resisting the Trump regime in getting some sort of headstart in terms of resources or does it not work that way?

I've laughed out loud frequently while reading The Road to Mars by Eric Idle. If you like Eric Idle's brand of clever wordplay and absurdist humor with a satirical lens it's a real treat. I don't often re-read books but I've come back to this one a few times.
a book with the title "Road to Mars: A Post Modern Novel" by Eric Idle sits on a wood background.

The ghouls at Amazon say it's a doorbuster, but how am I supposed to get trampled for a consumer product when I'm ordering online? Man- advertisers are some souless folk sometimes. #falseadvertising

Apparently he didn't want to have to kill the guy (which Teddy probably wouldn't think twice about to his advantage in a battle royale). I think this artist really captured the sense of "f*ck this - that guy is huge". www.wearethemighty.com/mighty-histo...

I think it's probably Teddy as well, but Lincoln would definitely have a chance with his reach and wrestling experience.

What struck me when listening to this is that LLMs- because they are only rehashing other people's input collected over time- function in an inherently culturally regressive fashion. By giving over our creativity to them it seems inevitable that we as a society are on a path to societal decline.

Sometimes this beautiful soul is the only thing keeping me going. When I'm feeling lonely and haunted by dark thoughts they somehow seem to know to find me. Their warmth, love, and purrs let me know that someone loves me. Furry people save lives.

While that may be true, we can enforce copyright laws and bring back environmental regulations that make them too expensive to continue to use.

Proud of my city for not playing the regime's game. This video is a good explanation for why the inflatables are such an effective protest tactic.

Thank you for this illuminating video. While working beside immigrants in my Whole Food years I heard horror stories from people in the restaurant industry too- many who lived in cities and were housed in squalid apartments owned by their employers- and I fear how this impacts the whole food chain.

MAGA aims to make slavery legal in the USA. In under 30 min this small farmer, crop scientist, & ex-farm worker lays it (& more) out. I worked with a lot of immigrants in my Whole Food years. They ALL had it hard under the best of circumstances & for so, so many more it's truly hellish. Please watch

It feels like a long time since our mainstream monoculture wasn't laser focused on gawking at the fascistic dumpster fire that we're becoming. It's hard not to of course & these things need to be witnessed & discussed, but damn it's exhausting. Anyway- here's my kitty Kaylee & a degutted toy alien.
a petite tortoise shell Kitty with green eyes has her head turned and profile while laying on a yellow blanket that is draped over the photographer's body while their knees are up. they're both in front of a white curtain on a grey coucha classic style green alien is nailed to a foam pole upside down beneath a blue sign meeting pothole hotline 503-823-bump city of Portland. the alien is upside down and it's chest cavity is open with a hole where the guts would be. behind you can see a deciduous tree directly behind with a blue sky above. to the rate is a slate gray vinyl sided house with white trim into the left is the road.

As a US citizen I recently learned the breathtakingly stupid way these goddamn tariffs were calculated. Fun fact it was from the Canadian Broadcasting Company & this infographic from the BBC. This is what happens when the oligarchs control the US media. Solid explainer video below.
A formula explaining how Trump's tariff rates were determined by dividing the US trade deficit with a particular country by the total imports from that country and then dividing that number by 2. Source US Treasury reported by the BBC

Can't say I sleep well, but the Tart Cherry I take at night helps a lot. It stimulates melatonin production & helps with inflammation. If it ends up working the concentrate we get through Fruit Fast (Brownwood Acres) works great at a good price but you have to buy a fair amount to get free shipping

This was a very illuminating video (now I understand kilowatt hours!) and thank you for talking about the absurdity of using corn for ethanol. Corn is a wonderful crop with a myriad of good uses from food, textile, compostable dishware, etc, but using it for ethanol is ridiculously inefficient.

I've been too exhausted for social media lately, but this gave me a glimmer of hope and I wanted to share it. There is power in speaking from your heart and giving witness to what you know to be true. I hope to grow to have the conviction, grit, and courage that Rep Zephyr shows here.

I think stoking jealousy is a more effective tool to control the comfortable middle to upper middle class. Instead of recognizing their comfort and reaching out a hand to the suffering, their envy convinces them they are the ones suffering from a lack of luxury consumer goods.

It warms my heart everyday to see your dog friends and to know that you all take such good care of each other. We have some neglected pooches next door and I'm frequently tempted to kidnap them to take them on walks. Also that is an absolutely gorgeous table.

When people say, “Only disabled people will die from this,” know that could also mean YOU. You can become part of the disability community at any time and will inevitably become disabled unless you die early. Disability is a part of life. Be careful when you exclude us because it could be you next.

💯 it's also a clear indicator that the fascist regime is killing people based on their perceived economic worthiness which is a chilling precedent. We can't abandon ANY groups of people. I feel the same way about the attack on "gender ideology"- they can twist these terms to include ANYONE they want

I really, truly hope you're right. I do agree that they would be unlikely to be very successful if they did invade, but with an unhinged malignant narcissist as POTUS it's hard to know what will happen. I think it's more likely they'll be used against our own country, but these are strange days.

I'm legitimately tearing up. This gives me more hope than anything that's happened since the Trump regime began. I do think his actions with the military (firing generals, cutting food aid for service members, etc.) and the general disrespect he's shown them may have been a fatal mistake on his part

I wouldn't go so far as to say every cop loves Trump, but my own experience is that a lot of people flying thin-blue line flags also have Trump signs. I certainly hope that his popularity has waned, but their mindset is very aligned (authority, patriarchy, defending Capital, etc).

It's really frustrating when the word fascist can be substituted in most cases & also avoids the "not literal Nazi" rebuke. It seems like a lot of folks are trying to provoke strong responses, but over time the more extreme language just desensitizes folks in ways that more specific language doesn't

I agree that American soldiers would be hard to convince to invade Canada. However, the police LOVE Trump and have a whole lot of "surplus" military equipment. When they're rolling in with tanks, body armor, and fully automatic weapons I don't know that it matters as much if they're military.

I'm a pacifist & agree that we can & should hold politicians accountable, but there are times when we also need more immediate/ tangible action too. Even if we could trust our institutions, things are changing too fast to keep up with & sometimes violence is needed to stop bullies in their tracks.

The police often have close ties with White Supremacist groups and cannot be relied upon to respond to them. The more the Nazis get away with their shit the more empowered they will feel to continue. We must respond to those who call our extermination in a language they will respect.

An upside-down American flag hangs from El Capitan near Yosemite National Park’s Horsetail Fall on Saturday to protest the thousands of federal job cuts made by President Donald Trump’s administration.
