Drought can disrupt livelihoods even when overall employment appears stable. In South Africa, agricultural workers in drought-hit communities were more likely to change jobs, relocate or leave formal work. Those who moved also tended to earn less. Read the research brief: go.unu.edu/cTrsF

New #SATIED research estimates that South Africa’s domestic VAT reporting gap averaged 40.6% between 2016 and 2020, with wide differences across sectors and provinces. The findings point to where more targeted compliance efforts could have the greatest value. More: go.unu.edu/DFw0k
