The former chair of the BK Dems is trying to call a meeting at 10pm tonight to pick a new chair, in defiance of a judge’s order and using rules that the court struck down. No one should attend this meeting. Democrats respect the results of elections and the rule of law.

I think it’s worth considering that fable was released before the benchmark revision was published, while opus 5 was after. Irrespective of training cutoffs, what goes into a “model” seems to include a lot agentic behavior tuning. I wonder if running the fable bench again would show a similar gain.

It didn’t occur to me, when he was among the living, that Steve Albini was my best friend, because we weren’t eleven years old when we met. And I never thought about his birthday, since, again, not eleven, and the occasion was only celebrated once during the decades we knew each other

That said, the only time I have caught myself saying “that’s not an agent!” out loud is listening to folks discuss their Claude Code configs.

This paper is pretty exciting. Near-zero-carbon steel production costs only 36% more than steel from a blast furnace (under reasonable electricity price assumptions); a carbon tax like the one in the EU is already enough to make it cost-competitive. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Is the Gutenberg version print?! (Looking now and it is!) fascinating. I never did get to get it going on cd, I wonder if the robots would convert it to modern web stack?

man I went through a whole journey reading this paragraph

NY Times: As donors try to assess their next moves in the mayoral race, one of the biggest donors to Andrew Cuomo’s super PAC, the investor Mark Gorton, said he is likely to back Mamdani. That is because of the support that Mamdani had gotten from Brad Lander, who Gorton said he ranked first. “I feel like people misunderstood my $250,000 for Cuomo for real enthusiasm,” Gorton said in an interview. “It was basically, ‘Oh, looks like Cuomo is coming back. We don’t want to be shut out. Let’s try and get on his good side.’ That’s kind of how things work with Cuomo. It’s sad political pragmatism. I wish we lived in a world where those sort of things were not useful things to do.”

Say what you will about capitalism (many have), but I think there’s something significant in the popular shift to understanding its tools as hatred and division rather than aspiration and, dare we say, hope.
