I saw that Playstation is going to be discontinuing physical disc production for their games soon. While as an indie I can't make and sell physical copies of Allumeria, if you buy it on Steam, you can copy the game to a USB, and that copy will run independently of Steam. No DRM, no online required.

Since genAI in gamedev is a topic of discussion recently, I wanted to share my stance on it. I just don't use it for anything. I find AI art as a concept offensive, so why would the same logic not apply to code and any other assets. I feel like AI use weakens the integrity of a work in any medium.

Today I finished the NPC system. That means I have, for the most part, finished adding new content and features to Allumeria 0.15. Feels crazy, after spending so much time working, a finish line is approaching quickly. Still lots of work to be done, but less and less of it is actual programming.

I've just added skin support to Allumeria, and I've tried to make a skin model format that is somewhat flexible and allows for more varied and interesting head designs while still only needing a single texture atlas to edit. Could also support non-human stuff like cat ears etc. #gamedev #indiedev

Fixed some inconsistency issues, and added a t flip flop gate. Here I am using the t flip flops as a binary counter. I think i need some sort of clock gate and a memory cell next. Tomorrow I will get back to work on multiplayer and start editing a trailer for the demo :) #gamedev #indiedev
