Meet some of the Mojave Desert critters that call our campus home.

Yellow Roses, a docu-dance drama film, presented by UNLV College of Fine Arts, Dance Department & UNLV College of Liberal Arts, can now be viewed online. The film is about the lives of six Las Vegas veterans from the first days of their service, through combat, and then transition back to civilian life. The documentary runs about 12 minutes long, a mix of veteran storytelling interwoven with dancer-performance. The mixture allows the imagination to digest their dramatic emotions, personal journeys, and individual grit.

Joy Osmanski (UNLV Theatre) recently completed narration of Mary H.K. Choi's novel Pool House and book review editor Lauren Christensen had this to say about Joy's narration: "Osmanski’s ear for both sarcasm and sentimentality not only captures but elevates Choi’s balance of mordant wit, emotional depth, and bracing storytelling."

The UNLV Donna Beam Gallery invites artists to participate in Camelot, a special exhibition celebrating Jerry Schefcik and his years of dedicated service to the gallery and the art community. It’s generally known that Schefcik has a collection of camel figurines numbering close to a thousand. Inspired by this treasured collection, artists are invited to create a work that responds to the theme, Camelot, in whatever manner you choose: through humor, memory, symbolism, representation, imagination, personal interpretation.

The inaugural Shameless Plug Film Fest, produced by the multi-Emmy Award winning Eccentric Artists group (a collective of UNLV Film alumni), boasts 25 specially curated films that were submitted from all over the world to screen across 4 Blocks on Saturday, August 29. Festivities begin from 10:30 a.m. to 9p.m. at THIRD Street in Las Vegas, NV. The 4 blocks at SPFF are all followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers.

The show will be up until August 15.  We'll be working with the Consulate again on our upcoming exhibition Facing Change: Mexican Masking Today.
