"Reimagining Safety Act" is such a bad name and framing. Call it the "Constitution Act," include a repeal of most of the Patriot Act, and frame it as restoring American rights that were taken from us by the Bush administration post-9/11.

Let's also drop most of the Patriot Act while we're at it.

Polls have margin of error. It's better to look at overall patterns rather than individual polls, and the overall pattern doesn't show much change.

Polling data is messy, and averages like this also vary based on what polls you count and how you weigh them. The average Nate Silver maintains on his website, for example, has had Talarico around +3.5 for a couple weeks, and that's higher than he was at before then.

Political ads are effective in smaller races with low name recognition and on topics where people are more easily persuaded. More money has quickly diminishing returns though, and no voters in Texas are confused or uncertain about the differences between Paxton and Talarico.

Not every bug is a backdoor. This would not be the first time an attempted hardware optimization opened the door for a timing-based side channel attack, and it likely won't be the last. These things slip through when you're trying to squeeze every last drop of performance out of your silicon.

Aside from the obvious, it's crazy that they believe smoking is great and that the only problem is the cancer.

The CA tax is based on residence, not where the assets are.

The MA millionaire tax is so different from the CA proposal that it's basically irrelevant to compare them.

Unlocked @unlocked.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
MA's tax was far more diffuse (affected thousands of millionaires rather than dozens of billionaires) and was not a wealth tax.

Do people want "super sweetener" or "super flavoring"...? Those honestly sound more sci-fi dystopian than "artificial."

What revelation does South Korea even want an apology for? Clearly not the transfer since they agreed to that. And what good would an apology for revealing the secret agreement even do? It's already out in the open now anyways.

They're protesting to continue a way of life that was financed by unlimited debt in an inflation-free world that no longer exists, with an aging population that can't provide the economic growth to outrun it. Even if they win this fight, the costs will still have to be paid, just in other ways.

Going after an unrelated party in response to a grievance like this is not what respectable entities do. It's what bullies do, especially when their behavior is being challenged.

Getting the power is not the problem (solar), the problem is getting rid of the energy once it turns to heat.

How much of that $7.33bn is compute vs infrastructure? If the compute costs are greater than the total revenue, the unit economics seem pretty grim.

The fix for college sports is not to turn it into a codified sports league. Colleges should be in the business of teaching, not running professional sports teams. If they want a league for younger semi-pro athletes, there's no issue with just forming a new indie league separate from colleges.

Basically I think the ethical questions around intentionally breeding heavily disabled mice in order to experiment on them are a bit more pertinent than "maybe adding a few human cells to a mouse will turn it into a human."

This paragraph is weird. Consciousness is not something we can prove something has, it's something we decide something has. If you don't believe mice have consciousness already, should 6 months with a very small clump of human neurons really alter that opinion?
For instance, the researchers chose to stop the experiments when the human brain cells reached around six months old — before they could form a connection in the mouse's brain that is considered a hallmark of consciousness by human development researchers. "They're trying to stop the study before the markers of consciousness, or the fact of consciousness, might emerge," Farahany says — a choice she agrees with.

The rules text for convoke differs slightly from the reminder text and actually says "tap ... _rather than_ pay that mana." So unfortunately it doesn't interact favorably.

Japan holds a huge amount of US debt, and if Japan has to sell that debt to stabilize the yen, it would devalue the dollar.

You literally quote-replied me, but regardless, if not that, what was the "observation" supposed to be?

I can read what you're saying, and your statements simply do not align with what the data shows. The data does not say that people don't consider individuals working multiple jobs to be working class. It shows that when asked to define "working class," people opt for broader, more inclusive terms.

I think you should probably stop treating any and all responses which don't completely agree with you as personal attacks. I literally never said any of that. I said that the data did not show what you seemed to think it showed.

"Employed / Working for a living," the top response, includes people who work multiple jobs.

Unlocked @unlocked.bsky.social · 08/09/2026
The implication from your post was clearly that respondants didn't think working multiple jobs was "working class," which is not what the infographic says. And without that implication, the observation is simply "people defined a term using a broad definition over a specific and incomplete one."

Sony's argument there is not about revokability, it's about the fact that consumers know they're just buying a license. Their argument on revokability is not discussed in the article but looking at the actual filing they basically just point at their ToS and cite some relevant case law.
