iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

I think Stone Free and KISS especially contribute to this, but there's also so much just like weird organic stuff? All the stuff in the maximum security block is WILD

Literally couldn't believe that fuckin Gears 3 had me tearing up, but I played through all the games up to that point with my pal and every time it's a reminder of all that time we spent together on the sofa chainsawing aliens ❤️

There's a moment before it all kicks off after he sends Abigail away and he rides back to camp and That's The Way It Is plays and he KNOWS how it's going to end and it absolutely kills me every time. "You know there ain't enough kindness in this world, that's for sure"

"Every youngster will look into you, and want to emulate you. And then what? They'll want to leave. What happens to the Vault if we lose the best of a generation? (...) You saved us, but you'll kill us. I'm sorry. You're a hero... and you have to leave."

Also I underrated the truth, I think it ends up being more ambivalent on media / journalism than I remember in a way that feels really relevant. Good listen!

My fav of the recent crop has been The Truth read by Matthew Baynton, he's really, really good. Sadly I didn't get on with Jon Culshaw's VO and he does *all* of the watch books...

Essentially a perfect joke. Incredible.

End of last session when tallying up experience points I realised I should have used that move more effectively!

unitled @unitled.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

Yeah things like setting out on an adventure are moves too

unitled @unitled.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

Yeah it feels good to have an effect which my character can trigger which DOESNT increase the mental load on the GM - they already have a good idea what the basic moves can do and don't need to remember I can make a 6- into a 7-9 or that I get to pick +1

unitled @unitled.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

More on topic from the original thread - looking at my playbook for Stonetop I have *no moves* that trigger a roll, several (maybe half?) that modify rolls on other moves, a couple of utility moves, and then some which have 'automatic' effects

unitled @unitled.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

Some PBTA games I've seen have pretty niche and specialised moves, and accept that the moves have a shelf life while they still feel novel. This of course means you need to shovel a toooon of moves into the game to keep it feeling exciting?

I know this is the wrong accent, don't @ me

They're calling it the most northern thing captured on film

That said when my elf runner failed his GFI twice with a reroll and then snapped his neck also with a reroll I alt-F4'd and uninstalled the game, absolute bullshit

People insist that a pseudo random generator is incapable of generating numbers that are RANDOM ENOUGH to play a game of fantasy rugby, it makes me lose my mind

We're moving to east Lothian soon and my front door will be, as the crow flies, 25m from the nearest Greggs 😌

unitled @unitled.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

But what about second Greggs

unitled @unitled.bsky.social · 24/09/2026

You know now I think, genuinely I remember being annoyed the original book didn't line up on my shelf when I first got it haha! What a bonny book, though, can't wait to dive in...

You can’t have it both ways. You can’t be “It’s simple math, vote blue no matter who, grow up” and ALSO believe you are fighting fascism by making calculations as to who’s expendable. The world we’re in now demands more from us. More from everyone.

Yeah, I mean I'll get the box for the models regardless, would be a fun activity pre or post necromunda Weekender - bounty hunters hunting down the most notorious survivors of the campaign?

unitled @unitled.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

It misses out what I think is cool about the necromunda setting, and looks to focus on tactical combat - and if that's the case, why wouldn't I just play necromunda which is already and RPG / skirmish hybrid anyway?

unitled @unitled.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

The main thing in its favour for me is the metric ton of necromunda models and terrain I already have, *system* wise I have very little interest in it and it doesn't align with the kind of roleplay games I typically play.

Sorry to hear that - good luck with the house hunt ❤️

I remember watching Escape From New York and instantly understanding why Kurt Russel was a sex symbol for the previous generation. This film is that for James Remar

The gamble they are taking is not that trans people and allies will vote for them in solidarity, it's that they don't need the votes of trans people and allies because they will attract enough transphobes. They are, of course, completely wrong.
