happy pride from the sky
There is a quarter rainbow front and center in the picture. It is only blue skies and some puffy clouds visible over the field and houses.

Finished the waistcoat August 13th, 2024, two months early of my goal. It was really fun! I would make some changes to the garment now that I know a smidge more about sewing, taking in the sides a little to reduce the wrinkling and one or two other little things.
A shiny tan waistcoat being worn, it is a little large but pretty. The back of the waistcoat, it is a nice green colorA person leaning against the tree wearing a red buttonup shirt and the tan waistcoat.A person is sitting on a picnic table with their forearms resting on their knees, weaving a grey buttonup shirt and the tan waistcoat.

I used the Belvedere Waistcoat pattern from Thread Theory because I had only made two other garments before. I sewed the buttonholes by hand according to Vincent Brigg's youtube tutorial. The buttons were horn.

I decided that I would make a garment from this fleece in a year, with the goal to have it done by Rhinebeck 2024. The fleece was 3 lbs, 10 ounces. I washed the fleece (10/25), combed it (11/11-1/11/24), spun and plyed it (1/24-4/22) and wove it (5/4-6/6)

The Waistcoat: Fleece to Garment in a Year (10 months!) I received a beautiful mohair fleece from @colleencricket.bsky.social at Giant Cricket Farm, who raises colored Angora goats, during Rhinebeck 2023. It was from her Angora goat Marla and it was a beautiful tan color.
A beautiful, shiny pile of mohair locks, tan color, incredibly shiny and wavy.A huge pile of tan fluff in mostly organized way stacked in a basket. The waistcoat is laying closed on a mesh table. It is tan and shiny, with just a tiny bit of green back showing at the shoulders. The lining is a plaid grey and blue. The same waistcoat but it has been opened so the grey and blue plaid lining is visible.

I did an all makes christmas including the bags the gifts went into. Also included but not shown is my dad's gift which will be bags for ratchet straps but I just made one as a prototype out of a pair of old jeans and will need to check the size while I'm here and then make five more.

also did shortbread, butter has to be really soft but it's all hand work instead of the mixer which I do like in a recipe. I'm going to dip them in chocolate once they cool.
Six by four neat rows of very square shortbread cookies on a sheet tray. The last two are a little lumpy.

I made rosemary crackers from Baked to Perfection and holy shit they are incredible. I mean, absolutely amazing. I'm going to make so many of them in the future. Easy to double or triple batch since they're made in a food processor and easy to roll out
A baking sheet of lightly browned crackers, they don't look like much but they're great.

I can't wait to finish this and show it off, it's a modification of a guernsey from Patterns for Guernseys, Jerseys, and Arans, from a fleece I got at a fiber festival, hand processed, spun, plyed and now knitted
A terribly lit photo of a knitted sweater panel with moss stitch in the center and two cables on either side. The cables are very round and luscious and the moss panel is very well textured

washed a fleece yesterday. 6.5 pounds from Stewart, a romney ram who I met at a fiber festival. It's on the softer end for a Romney and it isn't quite dry yet, but I really like it so far. I spun a little sample straight from locks and it spun up very fine.

Also today, I decided to put a new project on the wheel since I finished the last one so long ago (yesterday) and picked a bag of CVM that I got from Clemes & Clemes Good Clean Fiber and hand combed. It is spinning up so fine and beautifully. I picked it because the bag was falling off the shelf
A pile of extremely puffy little loose knots of wool fiber, they look soft and cloud like.A very fine thread of yarn being held over a finger to show how fine it is. Maybe a mm wide?

Day 1 of Tour de Fleece, I spindle spun cotton after moving the previous tempoaray cop down to the main part of the spindle and spun what is in the new temporary cop. Day 2, I plyed the mohair I spun from Giant Cricket Farm, hopefully to get it measured and on a cone so I can get weaving.
A wooden spindle filled with white cotton yarn being held in hand. There is a tiny little temporary cop of yarn at the top of the spindle.A purple bobbin of fiber on an electric wheel. It is a lovely dark grey, very shiny and the bobbin is filled very full.

Also got the mohair warped and on the loom, now weaving. Will be yardage for the waistcoat muslin I made with lining and back possibly from cloth I got from a closed tailoring company

Made the bread, realized I needed the oven on to get the bread to rise in a reasonable amount of time, so made chocolate cake with chocolate swiss meringue buttercream, then made the ice cream (haven't churned yet), and had egg whites so made meringue cookies, half vanilla, half mint

didn't have the best shearing day today. Only managed to shear eight sheep. All of them outweighed me. My back was tired very quickly. This sweetie was a bottle baby a few years ago, could reach up and tap my shoulder with her nose and then tried to steal my wallet.
