It's more a compliment to the original, but I do love the way progression is handled in this game. You're alone on the station, there's no one to explain stuff, you just learn from random audio logs what Shodan's planning. Then... ya gotta figure out how to stop it on your own. Good luck.

First impression of the System Shock remake is that it's really nice. The aesthetic feels off, though. The original felt like it had blue walls and orange bloodstain-writing for a dark/horror atmosphere that was still readable on old monitors. Now, it's bright blue and orange because *cyberpunk*.

That's Elden Ring playthrough 3 down. Heavy Stone Club, no spirit ash, no multiplayer, no incantations/spells/status items, sl150. The fans INSIST that's the best way to play, but honestly, I had the most fun in playthrough 1 with the silly summons. They're fun! Stop telling people not to use em!

I'm such a fan of the Marathon series that I was still kinda hoping that Bungie would save it... but sheesh, it's dipping to ~700 players at night, and they just canceled seasonal updates. Well, not like I'm helping, I didn't even buy it myself... but even so, that game really coulda been something.

MM1 is extremely iconic, but the roughest of the classic series. 2 is a great place to start if you aren't committed to release order. X is fantastic and can be enjoyed as the start of its own subseries. The, the Zero series for GBA gets AMAZING (Z3 especially), but you should play through X first.

I put in *300* hours, doing all the raids and following the advice of friends who were way into it. I did everything they recommended, then immediately put it down and never felt the urge to pick it back up. It just never got THAT good. But hey, it was my first MMO, so it was worth a go.

Happy 40th birthday to Metroid, a series so forward-thinking that its best entry was designed to be played on a 32-inch LCD monitor, despite how it was released on a graphing calculator. Of the GBA Castlevanias, the only one I generally recommend to people is Aria. On DS, each of the three has a unique appeal, but on GBA... it's clear that they were still kinda working out the formula.

Ghost Rider is tied for my favorite Marvel character, so a new movie with Ryan Gosling? Peak. First time I've been excited for a Marvel movie since... ever? I mean, I know it won't be as weird or horrory as I would like, but eh, just seeing the character on screen again's good enough for me.

Finished Mouthwashing, and it's another game to add to the list of "why did THIS blow up?" It's mostly just a run-of-the-mill, trashy glitch-horror indie game. A shallow exploration of sensitive topics through stock archetypal characters, seemingly just for shock value. 0% recommend.

Finished It's gonna be hard to analyze, cause the fact that grip feedback (which tells you whether you're secure or not) isn't enabled by default skews the experience so much. Before enabling it halfway through, I fell 20 times. In the second half, despite the harder challenges, I only fell 5 times.

Started Cairn, and it's neat. I always wanted a version of Death Stranding where you actually needed to prep/calculate and take risks, and that's what this is. Kinda. Its mechanics are unpolished enough to where it can feel more like Qwop: Story Mode at times, but the heart was in the right place.

Played through The Case of the Golden Idol today. All I knew about it was that it was a mystery game with a strong cult following (97% positive on steam), and it's... fine. Met expectations more or less; worth the $8 sale price. But man, *97 percent*? People LOVE it, and again, it's... fine.

Just got my order from @taiyakipress.bsky.social! I didn't notice the color gradient when I ordered the SF6 ones, so I was blown away when I opened the pack. It feels wild even to me. But I mean... you couldn't even reload without a menu in RE1. No quickturn, non-atmospheric fluorescent lighting, bad audio, the works. Deadly Silence is a fairly tasteful patch. REmake is a beautiful reimagining. The original is historically important, that's about it.

Did a couple quick solo runs, and it's a cute game. As a lover of Mankind Divided's aesthetic, Marathon's style works for me, since it's a similar visual language cranked to 11 (and with more colors). It's still a multiplayer shooter though, so it's not my thing, but it's cute. Doubt I'll buy it.

I downloaded Marathon to try it for the free week, and it's funny how even if all the Bungie branding was stripped out, I would still know it's made by the same people as Destiny 2: you get a short tutorial followed by 18 pages of menus and explanations of menus, and then you're dumped on your ass

Wolverine looks... surprisingly unimpressive? I guess it's hard to match how fun it is to swing around as Spider-Man, cause the action looks incredibly standard. Also, even as a comic appreciator, I've never liked how Wolvie's costume looks in 3D adaptations, and this is definitely no exception.

Yacht Club made it clear that Mina the Hollower is make-or-break for them, so I'm getting worried about these mid reviews. Especially the ones that say it's another poor copy of the Souls formula. I didn't even like that Souls stuff in Hollow Knight, so if Mina is even Hollower, that's a problem.

Finished Vagrant Story, and it's shot to the top of my (very short) list of games which I think need a remake. Dynamic weapons the PSX ram couldn't handle. Complex world with a terrible map system. Intriguing plot with critical details only in the Japanese guidebook. Mediocre, full of potential.

The Lanterns trailer looks pretty good, but I would like to see a series inspired by Grant Morrison's run. Specifically, the part where a team of emotionless lanterns handles the galaxy's most traumatizing jobs in order to save on trauma counseling, but one member actually *does* have emotions.

Green Lanterns investigate a corpse planet, with a bug-like lantern saying that they only have one emotion, and another lantern has zero, which makes for a low trauma counseling bill. The third lantern, unfortunately, does have them.

Revisiting DaS1 is always nice, but honestly SL1 isn't that interesting. Pyro is so strong that the only difference from a normal playthrough is that you get one-shot by most attacks, and even then, you can slap on Havel's and win anyway. Also Nito is easily the hardest lord soul, everyone is wrong.
