i thought of me when i saw it too! i spent a few minutes thinking of something clever to say, i figured the person who's had a furby avatar for years should comment on the furby post - but all i could come up with was "furb :]"

im watching stranger things season 5 with my sister. (halfway caught up, here) i still like this show. i do. but my god, do i agree with the whole "it should've been one season" sentiment. or, at the very least, season one is still by far the best.

When you take away the mystery? Well, you take away the mystery. The intrigue. The Upside-Down used to be this terrifying, inexplicable place. It was scary. Now it's just... a place. (I only just finished the episode where Dustin says its wormhole, but I'm moreso speaking of seasons 4 and 5 in gen.

I'm not done watching the fifth season yet, but I'm definitely feeling that. Last night I said to my sister, who I'm watching it with, that the show was a lot better before they started explaining every little mystery.

I don't know. I think I understand. I know a number of people who avoid RPGs but love playing the core Pokemon games. Is that similar?

i say mammalian, because we are definitely NOT the weirdos if we consider everything this weirdo planet has to offer. but as far as mammals go?

unfounded @unfoundedrevenge.bsky.social · 28/12/2025
man, humans are such a strange looking species of animal. i mean, some of my favourite people are human, but we're definitely the weirdos in the mammalian landscape

I like these shows a lot. I'm not super obsessed or anything, but I generally just love to stay caught tuned for new episodes. But the general... reception, the show has? It makes me kind of embarrassed to admit that sometimes. Flawed shows, but I adore the worldbuilding and art design.

I wish I had any capabilities to make fangames or romhacks, because it's fun to think about this kind of stuff. Maybe I just want OVA Knuckles' hat in a game and Fang playable in a 2D Sonic. With some sort of new moveset that can make him viable in a 2D Sonic (or Knuckles) level

lmao yeah so it's literally just a skill issue on my end haha I'm not particularly good at SA1. Maybe it's because I spent my whole life playing SA2? I'm really not sure. That can't be a good excuse, everybody who plays SA1 has played SA2 as well lol. idk.

I don't know how people feel about Knuckles' oft-forgotten "treasure hunter" motif, but I think something akin to the OVA Knuckles is pretty comparable to Fang, isn't he? Treasure hunters who wear hats. My game idea is a S3&K type deal, you'd play as Fang, too.

i have a dumb idea for a 2D Sonic fangame. you'd play as Knuckles, with his OVA hat, and race to the end of levels to find Master Emerald shards. or something. (like traditional sonic, not Knuckles' Emerald Hunt, as great as that hack is) Fang the Sniper would be your main rival. 1/2

It could definitely just be that I suck though, lol. I grew up with SA2:B, but I only got my hands on SA1 about a year or two ago. So it could just be that I'm used to SA2's slightly differebt controls, whilst SA1's throw me for a loop. I don't know! no speedrunning sa1 for me just yet :'( lol

I rewatch the Cybershell video on the matter of SA ports at least once a year haha (i don't know why but the topic of the models and lighting really fascinates me!) so I definitely knew about how each port is worse than the last, which is why I'm wondering if maybe its just the 360 controls or smth

Aw, what! I've been missing out! I've mainly lived in Ontario, from as far east as Kemptville and as west as London, and everywhere in between (specifically Peterborough area for most of my earlier life), as well as Jasper, Alberta, but I've yet to see games in a library! I have to keep an eye out!

And something similar can be said for the 1970s, as well! I think the mid-20th century, specifically the '60s - '80s, had some of the best theatrical poster art. I think some of the styles have been making a comeback, actually. Anyways, here's a few '70s posters I think are rad, too.

unfounded @unfoundedrevenge.bsky.social · 24/11/2025
I find that LOTS of otherwise shitty horror films from the '80s have killer, radical posters. (A couple of these ones aren't actually bad, mind you.)

Even running down those easy little bits in a Sonic stage - like where it's a thin path or tunnel where you basically just go fast - feel difficult to me. And I'm not talking about jank, or the added jank from the later ports. I so much as nudge the stick and Sonic's gone to the fucking moon lol

Does anybody know stuff about Sonic Adventure 1 ports? Sometimes I hear people say SA1 controls "buttery smooth" or stuff like that. As in, it controls very well. I love the game, but I find Sonic controls like a wet bar of soap. Is that because I have the Xbox 360 port of DX? Or am I just bad?

People love to use NPC as an insult but honestly it sounds nice just spending your day selling potions or just only having to say one sentence about a nearby cave to strangers.

I personally view all of these mediums of entertainment to be equally valid as one another. A video game, a novel, a film, and a musical album are all various forms of art - typically naratice art! I've never heard of libaries lending video games, but I love the idea!!

Oh, man. None of the local libraries that I've been to within the various lands of Canada I've lived in have done that. Most of them rent out DVDs and BluRays, and I do appreciate that. I hope more libraries consider renting games.

I'm certainly not aiming to heat things up, so I apologize if it appears that I'm stirring any shit! I just think this line of discussion, re: Latin and English and linguistics and all that jazz, is fun and interesting! I appreciate your arguments - but not the rude words.
010
unfounded @unfoundedrevenge.bsky.social · 24/11/2025
Also - unrelated to linguistics and etymology and all that - I hope this isn't out-of-pocket of me, but you seemed to be unfoundedly rude to the person you're arguing with. Why? Couldn't you use your knowledge to simply kindly educate them, rather than insult them?

In the context of the Latin language, I have to assume you're plainly correct. In the context of English, however...? It's like how, in English, the plural of "oboe" is "oboes". Is that the case in Italian, from which "oboé" derives?
110
unfounded @unfoundedrevenge.bsky.social · 24/11/2025
Actually, they raise a good point. I'm clearly not nearly as well-versed in Latin as a subject as you are, so I'll take your word for much of that; but it IS a word in English, just as it is in Latin. It's loanword in English derived from Latin. Within an English context, English grammar CAN apply.

I believe typically, these machines ARE sold blank. You're expected to acquire and install the ROMs yourself, usually. AFAIK. Legally, you're assumed to acquire the ROMs legally... but literally nobody does. It's a very grey area!
000
unfounded @unfoundedrevenge.bsky.social · 24/11/2025
For example, like if you downloaded a Mario Kart ROM off the internet. It's no different than using Limewire to download music, mind you. It USUALLY isn't a big deal. Apologies for the massive ramble! I'm no expert, so take what I say with a grain of salt.
