I think whats most rewarding about studying Cryptography is that I'm now able to have real conversations about academic papers and understand what they mean. Like, I can read papers for real and get them fully!! I can do Crypto CTF's now!! Its so sick to apply knowledge directly like that

Now that I'm free from school until September, I've had so much fun getting through the Applied Cryptography course I've wanted to do for SO LONG!!! Goal is to finish it by the time I start, or at least get far enough to the point I don't have to delay it another year

I realised I go to the Bowling Alley too much when I recognised the staff and that they got a new 7-ball (Which I could tell from the feel of it) when I played on Lane 20 (Which always has disabled access ramps and has the loudest speaker in the alley)

End to End Encryption (i.e. Whatsapp) now is considered "Hostile Activity" by the UK Government?

Statement from the UK Government:

"Since hostile activity does not require any knowledge or tasking by a foreign state, the phenomenon of double-ignorance could arise. A person may be engaged in hostile activity if they do something which, unknown to them threatens, (sic) national security and which is in the interests of another State, also entirely in the dark. For example:

The developer's of an app, whose selling point is end-to-end encryption which would make it more difficult for UK security and intelligence agencies to monitor communications. It is a reasonable assumption that this would be in the interests of a foreign state even if though the foreign state has never contemplated this potential advantage."

Does anybody have resources for learning about the applied prevention of side-channeling attacks? I understand the most common ones, and I understand the theory behind how you prevent them, but I've never actually seen examples of preventing power analysis, for example. Is this a software thing?

I love decompiling software because it gives you a look into the dev's mind at the time - I was looking through MindWave's files, and found the proprietary code type ".mwsc" (MindWave Source Code?) used for scripts Code's like "do setmarker scriptA ugh". What does "ugh" do here???? Yet to find out
