I decided to pull back on the shading I normally do, a person much more experienced than I once said that shading should be used to tell you something about the lighting, as it's not in this, I chose to reduce it down to very small amounts, and I like it.

frankly i'm anti-shading at all when it comes to cartoony styles. if it's not telling you anything about the lighting, you're just adding minutes to your work time for no reason. what does shading add to the expression of this panel? nothing at all. i would argue it actually makes it stiffer.

I know not everyone CAN do it and it's not for everyone, but I recently had a job working as a security/receptionist for an IT company, 12 hour nights where people expect you to be doing nothing. The amount of art I got drawn in that job while getting paid very well was refreshing.
