Worth pointing out that in 1956, a children's book adaptation of Homer was doing "woke" casting.

Figures from the Provensen's Homer, a group of figures with skin tones ranging from Black to olive.

Great, now I’ll be unhappy until I get this book. THANKS FOR NOTHING, BREVOORT!

Although, some of parts with Emma I didn’t really like and thought the characterization was a bit off but I’m willing to shrug it off.

Hellfire Murder was surprisingly good! I didn’t have high hopes and pleased to say it exceeded my expectations. #xspoilers

Liefeld, the same guy who ranted on youtube about how he wasn’t let in to the Deadpool & Wolverine after party and whined that Feige snubbed him on the red carpet. What an utter narcissist lol

Liefled co-created X-Force and Deadpool with Fabian Nicieza. But you wouldn’t think so by the way Liefeld deliberately tries to claim all the credit. What an absolute trashbag of a human.

I still have hope! I think Otherworld / Avalon is rich territory and there’s still a lot to explore, including the Braddock ancestral connections. But yeah, I’m not sure we’ll get much of the Omniverse storyline again.

#xspoilers97 I did enjoy seeing Psylocke and Archangel piloting a plane together, as they did in the comics with the X-Men’s Blackbird. Betsy Braddock (the Psylocke of that time) used to work as a charter pilot. I appreciate the effort put into little character details like that.

This era of Marvel comics is missing an Excalibur book. One that is unapologetically quirky and whimsical, rich with Otherworldy adventures and Arthurian high fantasy. Give me.

Did I miss a formal apology from Frank Miller for his blatant Islamophobia and anti-Occupy comments? All I recall was second hand apologia from colleagues who blamed it on his drinking. Just curious if I missed him doing any kind of work or if everyone shrugged and forgot.

X-MEN '97 IS BACK! For Looper, I wrote about a surprise appearance in episode 2 that pays homage to one of Marvel's most heartbreaking stories -- one that DOESN'T have an X in the title!

What I liked about the Wolverine and the X-Men version of Emma is that we got to see some of that depth and complexity to her character. And that under her diamond exterior there’s actually a heart. That’s the kind of character development we deserved to see in X-Men 97.

I understand that Emma in the comics and Emma in the animated series are in two very different places in their lives and I somewhat expect different portrayals. However, the fall of Genosha should’ve been a pivotal moment for Emma. It feels like a missed opportunity for deeper character development.
