The iconic Berg Glacier, source of the icebergs in Berg Lake in Mount Robson Provincial Park, no longer terminates in the water. So there will be no more bergs. Different angle, but here is a 1911 photo for comparison. #climatechange #glaciers #mountains

Mountain goats in foreground, a depleted Conrad Glacier in the smoky backroung. Saskatchewan Glacier, an outlet of the Columbia Icefield has retreated back dramatically and now terminates in a proglacial lake. Extensive Little Ice Age moraines mark the former extent of this now very small glacier in the Premier Range. Robson Glacier, thinning and retreating rapidly as it currently terminates in a proglacial lake.

you know that feeling where you write a grant application in 2024, are awarded the grant in 2025, the funds show up in 2026, and so you order lots of expensive scientific equipment, and the final pieces show up *literally* an hour before you have to leave for fieldwork? Yeah, I got that now.

BC snowpack update! After some warm weather in early February and some serious snowfall in the last week or so, snowpacks in BC are, on average, still right around average. However: ❄️ ++ in the the northern half and Rockies/Interior, especially NE BC ❄️ -- in the southern half #bcsnow
