FLBS and the entire Montana AIS early detection and prevention collaborative team were recently recognized by the Western Regional Panel on Aquatic Nuisance Species as “Best in the West” for their exceptional efforts in preventing the spread of invasive species!

Do we have a blob-lem at Flathead Lake? Not when it comes to the green blobs pictured here! These are colonies of a microscopic single-celled protozoan called Ophrydium versatile. These communities are normal and not harmful or dangerous, and may actually help filter and clean up the water column.
