Today, we played Nestlings for the first time. This is a dice allocation, resource management game. The board and components are beautiful. The rule book was pretty iffy and the bot scoring arcane, but otherwise was a pretty distinctive gaming experience. #BoardGames

#BoardGames advent calendar day 21-Snowbound Story-play a narrative game. Today, we played Adventures of Robin Hood. In this chapter, Robin Hood and Little John rescued Alex the Blacksmith from Prince John. My favorite part of this game is the changing game board. It’s a genius design.

#BoardGames advent calendar day 11 - Holiday Heist -play a deduction game. Today, we played Hunt a Killer:Dead Below Deck. Like most of these, we solved all the puzzles, hidden codes, etc., but still got the killer wrong because we still couldn’t put together the “clues” to make a cohesive story.

This is a tile laying game where you lay cards to create a path from the North Pole to New York. While the board is cute, the game itself is dull and overly simple.

I’ve always loved Mihajlo Dimitrievski’s art in the West Kingdom and North Sea series of games. So, recently came across the Valeria series, and had to pick up Card Kingdoms. Again, love the art, but the game itself is great too. Tableau building with a Machi Koro-type mechanic.
