that law is unjust incapacitation is not consent affirmative consent is a good basic rule, and should be the societal norm even if no formal law exists without consent, this becomes exploitation, rape, imprisonment, and enslavement

the corrupt president who has repeatedly claimed he has all the cards is in fact playing games with the lives of hundreds of millions of people every day

the big, strong, young, male, View demographic? aside from that, the pivot from they-advertised-during-that-time-slot to biden-and-the-view-corrupt-the-youth is the argumentative equivalent of the Chewbacca defense.

he is eroding the strength of the US military as the regime he serves undermines the foundation of the republic they will ultimately fall, but they may draw many down with them

having read Niemöller's poem, i know my place in that order but i also recognize the expression of intersectionality and i recognize the need of alliance, with implicit inclusivity and diversity, in order to avert catastrophe, or (as seems increasingly likely) to recover from catastrophe.

i don't know how far the current US regime will go but, having seen what they have done so far, and having heard their rhetoric, i am not inclined to support their cause

we are also engaged in imperial expansion, which requires oppression, exploitation, and extraction, so also requires devaluation and dehumanization as rationalizations

we are engaged in a culture war, a struggle to define national and societal identity, as well as who is allowed to participate, who is valued, and who is included

he makes use of standard group functions: identification, marginalization, alienation, and exclusion the implicit message is conform or be cast out the regime he serves seeks to maintain control, wealth, and power among a few, who are free to exploit all others

it is the same society from which the phrase strange fruit emerges it is same society which says the name Emmet Till

Sven @ulfhethnar13.bsky.social · 17h
you already know the answer, because it is the same society which spoke of liberty and justice out of one side of its mouth, while displacing indigenous people and seizing the lands their ancestors had lived in for 650 - 1600 generations [rough math], and enslaving people based on phenotype

the wicked barb that caught me along the way was the unsubtle homograph of good and Good will the US be a society which defends those who are being oppressed, kidnapped, murdered, or incarcerated in foreign lands? or will the US be a society which destroys those who seek justice?

that is why imperialism must be abandoned societal structures must reinforce both social and environmental well being valuation of societal well being should not be in terms of GDP dollars or capital gains, but in terms of health, education, participation, and community service

Sven @ulfhethnar13.bsky.social · 17h
being responsible stewards of the environment we bring our children into is a noble task, and is probably one of the more relevant tasks we may undertake. extractivism and exploitation are antithetical to both environmental and societal health [though a few prosper, temporarily]

there is enough for all and recognition of our mortality should not motivate us to build monuments for our personal glory, but to nurture and guide our descendents so that they will continue to prosper and carry our legacy and the legacy of all life forward

we don't really own the Earth we are lucky enough to have been born here but we should not be born into servitude, nor should we be prisoners of the past, nor should we perpetuate injustice simply because we have known no other way.

this isn't a human survival strategy as much as it is a biological survival strategy [this suggests antipathy is a related survival strategy, which might best be acknowledged: some pressure to disperse is natural. that may be why diaspora occurs.]
100
Sven @ulfhethnar13.bsky.social · 17h
the point is, our time as a species, and even the time of life on earth is temporary unless we seed the stars from Africa, where our ancestors flourished, our diaspora began, and in many lands where people found refuge, they flourished again, and the process of diaspora was repeated

large impactor scenarios seem unlikely, but given observation of 1I/'Oumuamua, 2I/Borisov, and 3I/Atlas, we can say that our solar system is not entirely isolated, and delta-v of incoming material is not insignificant that sounds like fud, but is meant to acknowledge the unknown
100
Sven @ulfhethnar13.bsky.social · 17h
lunar recession and depletion of solar hydrogen are well known pressures. small impactor scenarios are likely over time.
100
Sven @ulfhethnar13.bsky.social · 17h
glaciation may or may not follow some astronomical periodicity [long-period variance of solar radiation?], so we may not agree on that as a medium-term pressure, but we can probably agree on long-term pressures.
100
Sven @ulfhethnar13.bsky.social · 17h
civilizations have emerged, have been transformed, and have fallen, even in the relatively modern interglacial period as a species, we have flourished since that time, but that should clarify our dependence upon favorable climate
100
Sven @ulfhethnar13.bsky.social · 17h
as individuals, our time on Earth is fleeting we have evidence of significant displacement within the period of civilization, including abandoned cities in landscapes which have been transformed over time, many of which are now below sea level
100
Sven @ulfhethnar13.bsky.social · 17h
as a species, we have walked the Earth for more than two hundred thousand years that spans two distinct glacial periods, the most recent of which corresponds a significant collapse of human population

let the age of empire and colonial exploitation be put firmly in the past let universal sovereignty, liberty, and empowerment be observed let people ally for mutual assistance and benefit, that all have enough, and that none have want, so that excess becomes a burden

all those with power, who enabled him, and who failed to uphold and defend the US Constitution, are complicit in his crimes i feel bad for some of the people he duped, who are now being crushed [we will share their pain when they fall, because many of them are farmers, and all of us need to eat]

i suspect some social media platforms filter protest speech as well, which allows a more favorable appearance than is actual for regime-sponsored content [which there is an significant volume of]

Sven @ulfhethnar13.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
if this is carried out, it might seem the lesser offront, but it should make it clear that the US is becoming a totalitarian state, in which political alignment and idiology may lead to persecution, and suppression of free speech has become the norm
100
Sven @ulfhethnar13.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
the US has already constructed detention camps and regularly carries out extrajudicial assassinations the regime has already branded the free press the enemy of the people

i hope i am the one who is proven delusional that scenario is perhaps extreme, but it gives grandpa a measure of victory against "the West" but if he has already stared long into the rifling of the PYa, he may as well roll the dice

the thing to do now is evaluate the shape of the regions we are in and the way we want to live, acknowledge our idiological adversaries, their position and intent, their strengths and weaknesses, and also our own strengths and weaknesses. regional and global alliances of free democracies

for those who stand to profit in the short and mid-term, such prospects may appeal long-term, the instability, consumption, and expansionism of RU and US are not sustainable, so both may fragment and fall, and new states may emerge
100
Sven @ulfhethnar13.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
in that scenario, there is a fair chance that the US will over-extend itself as a regional imperial power, profiting through exploitation, while failing to track the long-term impact of increased continuous expenditures compared to progressive depletion of resources
100
Sven @ulfhethnar13.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
so, grandpa could give daddy a simply worded assurance and daddy could be walking the US into a trap which ends up being bad for everyone except grandpa and CN, and transforms the global power dynamic into regional hegemonies in which the US can be contained due to the sheer stupidity of 47-ists
100
Sven @ulfhethnar13.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
i realize that sounds insane, but if SA falls to a coalition of IQ, IR, YE, and RU, backed or distantly supported by CN, or even with neutral CN, TW is exposed, and US contraction is guaranteed to follow, which further guarantees contraction of "the West" [worse than GFC 2007+]

Слава Україні! in this case, i hope 47 is right, but i wonder if he is delusional for grandpa, that story ends in a bunker with a PYa ... i guess it could be proven true if RU opens fronts beyond UA it would be especially ironic if that was in SA and IS

in the latter case, that lab worker should still be with us
100
Sven @ulfhethnar13.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
it still seems that a lab worker who worked at a facility which conducts anti-plague research would be intimately aware of symptoms and treatment options, and would be more likely to seek immediate medical care in a non-accident scenario in an accident scenario, medical response should be immediate

Sven @ulfhethnar13.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
most responsible sources report pneumonia of unknown origin whatever it is, time and data may reveal it
100
Sven @ulfhethnar13.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
i think your caution makes sense even if a lab accident is plausible, even that is unconfirmed there are valid medical reasons for such research i am probably being less than objective because i have to consider weaponization elsewhere, though it seems unlikely here
100
Sven @ulfhethnar13.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
endemic, but not in the human population. 7 to 8 cases of contact but, the argument that it makes no sense to weaponize a bacterial agent if it is impossible to produce sufficient antibacterial is valid

Sven @ulfhethnar13.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
it is not what i want, but what the math suggests will occur. the best strategy is not to incur debt.

in this case, the incubation period for pneumonic plague [black death] is as short as 24 hours, with symptoms after 72-168 hours. untreated, mortality may exceed 30%. it is extremely contagious. RU will likely contain it, but the potential for use in weapons applications is problematic.

there is a recent story from Zaporizhzhia which relates Russian operatives spraying chemicals and residents experiencing throat and nasal irritation. Russia has apparently used cyanide, chloropicrin, and chloroacetophenone in Ukraine. if chemical weapons have been deployed, biological may follow.
