Well, it doesn't fly THAT fast. Doom is not 35 years old, it's 31 years old. But yeah, still old and us with it.

Seriously??? I bet those people don't even listen to metal and are just professional alt right bots...

The game may resemble Anthem but that reads like a requiem. Well written, funny... requiem.

It was torture but sweet torture!

Kate, I forgot to tell you, the other day I nearly fell on the floor laughing, on a bus, listening to you looking for the coin you tossed in the finale of the F Zero Episode. That was spontaneous comedy gold and people were giving me all sorts of looks as I was trying to maintain composure.

I'd like to say he's turning into a proper arsehole, but it's apparent that he's been one for a long while but now feels he doesn't have to hide it...

Also, as someone brought up on old school Marxism and '80s anarcho-punk, I am pretty much immunised from any corporate propaganda, but it is so important to emphasize how shallow, empty and meaningless their investment in "diversity" is and that it's literally just marketing.

Excellent stuff as usual. Great point that Coates and Jemisin have been learning on the job. I liked their DC and Marvel stuff, but you could tell they were learning the ropes.

White Disney and Whiter Bros.

Next week the roles are reversed and the host does the same but instead of dipping the beans into water he just hovers them for a while over each cup. The guest says "bro, you are such a tightwad!" but the host is like "No, no, but your coffee last week was so STRONG! I couldn't sleep that night!"

010

Meh Met @ukmeho.bsky.social · 06/12/2023

Ha! We have a similar joke told about people from a town in southern Serbia. A friend visits his friend and asks if they can drink coffee together. The host heats up two cups of water, takes two coffee beans, ties strings at their middle and dips each into one cup. They have coffee (cont.)

Same here. Never bought another digital comic once they shifted to Amazon front end and absolutely broke my Comixology library.

Ha! I was looking at his channel two days ago and lamenting that there hasn't been a new video in a year. And then, boom, the bomber drops it.

Obviously her, thanks for the correction!

BTW, these sound fantastic. Just skipping from song to song it gives me that Michiru Yamane feel without copying his instruments or necessarily his style of composition. But it's expressive, evocative, upbeat, atmospheric, I love it.

I mean, I'll buy it if I want it, one gifted album is QUITE enough, but thank you, much appreciated. 😊

000

Meh Met @ukmeho.bsky.social · 01/12/2023

I may already have the ROMs as I generally try to have complete sets for most systems. Unless these are recent dumps, I probably have them. I'll give them a shot! Space Harrier is my jam so Panorama looks like a good candidate especially if it's a cute 'em up.

The whole “will AI reach sentience” debate is like asking “will faster horses suddenly be cars”. It’s a categorical error at best, a weird death cult at worst.

Meh Met @ukmeho.bsky.social · 01/12/2023

Never played it but I am a sucker for a good cute 'em up especially as they tend to be a tad on the easier side compared to their "serious" counterparts. Must try this one. as it seems to have been well respected back in the day.

Cheers. That's a terribly early retirement if I may add, especially for someone as good as you are. I'm preparing myself to write about Monica and I am apprehensive that I won't be able to fully do it justice. It has so many dimensions (and it's so DAMN funny to boot).

010

Meh Met @ukmeho.bsky.social · 30/11/2023

Hey, @riteshwriter.bsky.social have you perhaps written about Monica? I am that asshole person who didn't like Ghost World that much so I am always apprehensive with Clowes' new books, but Monica is stunning. Like one of the best things I've read all year. Thoughts?

Five of them. Nader Sadek are my favourite off this list.

If it means anything to you, I just today listened to yet another retronauts episode with your participation and though myself how I LOVE listening to Jared Petty being passionate yet intellectual about video games. Get well soon.

What made him see through their impeccable social camouflage was the fact that one of them wears trousers!

Literally in a league of its own. Takeda is a MONSTRESS indeed and words-wise, this is the best thing by Liu I have ever read by far (and I like her work generally). It has such burning energy, it reads like a book bursting with need to SAY something, rather than to play around with tropes.

Non-exhaustive list of things that "AI" generated text has made worse: - Search results - Scientific studies - How-to articles and repair instructions - Cooking recipes - Information on poisonous plants and mushrooms - Information about sickness and disease symptoms - News - Marketing copy

This is a perfect use case for AI: destroying search results so that people can’t find the information they’re actually searching for

Well, it DID shamelessly rip off a solid portion of Back to the Future's goofy charm AND it had Keaton playing it up for the camera so they must have thought "This is a fucking slam dunk, boys, Marvel can't touch us now". But, yeah, what a fucking mess that was...

Back then we didn't have a word for it but as of January this year we do: Enshittification. Amazon enshittified Comixology so bad I never once bought another comic from them after the deed was done.

City was the sweet spot for me. More open and robust than Asylum but happily free of the batmobile missions that were crammed into Knight. But I did like them all, Origins included.

010

Meh Met @ukmeho.bsky.social · 09/11/2023

Being MUCH older than you I was in the "Moore was so right phase" somewhere in 1990. 🤪 Morrison came only after that for me. But, well, of course, I see where either of them may have been wrong in their work but they are both still pivotal figures of the medium that would've been poorer otherwise.

000

Meh Met @ukmeho.bsky.social · 09/11/2023

Sure, most of this is death metal adjacent but still melodic enough. Mine would probably be something like Cryptopsy, Suffocation, Tomb Mold, VoidCeremony and Carnal Tomb, off the top of my head. You know me, only too brutal is brutal enough. 🤪 And I had to come here where all the hip kids are 🥰

010

Meh Met @ukmeho.bsky.social · 09/11/2023

Good stuff. Mine would probably be just a bunch of death metal releases. 🤪 This is better.

Origins has best boss fights.
