Android Auto and Apple Carplay exist.

Correlation does not equal causation. Are young drivers disproportionally represented because they are young, or because they are inexperienced? You could pass your test aged 50 and still be a new driver. (Indeed, are they actually disproportionally represented? I haven't fact-checked the claim.)

There's a lot to unpick here. Not least of which is that £260 is a lot of money to reinstall Windows 95.

This is wild - somebody did a deep dive into the real stories behind this famous XKCD: sheets.works/data-viz/hol...
an XKCD comic showing a precariously assembled tower of blocks. much is labelled "all modern digital infrastructure." a thin leg down at the bottom is labelled "A project some random person in Nebraska has been thanklessly maintaining since 2003."

... I long for the day when Jeremy Vine goes "well Professor, what would you say to Barry who believes that it's all lies because the moon is a holographic projection?" and the Professor replies "Well, Jeremy, I'd say to him that he's a fucking idiot."

I'm assuming it's spoofing afternoon radio phone-in show The Jeremy Vine Show. They'll routinely have an expert on explaining some hot topic of the day, then "for balance" have some headcase phoning in saying that the Artemis II mission was obviously a hoax because how could it get past the dome?

I've had cause to look this up both personally and professionally. But I don't profess to being an expert either. Regardless of actual law though, it's unlikely to get as far as a courtroom let alone a conviction if the complaint is little more than "he recorded me saying their decor is shit."

This isn't correct. (The article is, but you've misinterpreted it.) It is illegal to record where it would be reasonable to expect privacy. This applies equally to conversations, video, photographs. If the "conversation you're not party to" was conducted loudly in the street you'd be fine.

Alan @ukcougar.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
It's illegal in areas where one might reasonably expect privacy (and where it's explicitly prohibited). Merely recording people is not illegal in and of itself, contrary to popular belief. In this particular case, I'd suggest the OP puts up a poster warning people that CCTV may be active.

I don't disagree with you, but I stand by my point. If someone's "opinions" are actively damaging people I care about then we can't be friends. Moreover, I will actively excise them from my life. Call that "blocking culture" if you like, but I don't tolerate fascist bigots in my social circles.

This is true if the disagreement is whether brown or red sauce should go on a bacon sandwich. If the disagreement is over whether the RNLI should leave people they don't like to drown then perhaps not so much.

Oh, they can tell it like it is just fine. The problem is, they don't understand/accept that so can everyone else. Freedom of speech applies equally to both parties, it is not freedom from consequence. If you're being a dick, folk can tell you you're being a dick. Don't like that, don't be a dick.

I mean, DW was originally conceived as a kids' programme FFS, they pitched it to the Beeb as an educational show. Those moaning today that it's not like it once was are presumably longing for the days when it was teaching children about Stone Age man.

This right here. Like... mate, she's fat and on a bike, you're at least as fat and aren't. So... 🤷‍♂️ It was doubly galling because she was fit as a butcher's dog despite outward appearances, she could leave me for dead when we were riding. Those gobshites got out of breath walking between pubs.

"You know what we need here? More people from London" said no-one in Wales ever. (Actually now that I come to think about it, "... said no-one outside of London ever."😁) This fess was written by someone in Brighton, wasn't it.

You can't win as what you look like. My ex was a keen cyclist and constantly attracted shouts from dickheads. Except they weren't sexual, they were variations on "look at that fucking fat bird on a bike." Sometimes when I was with her and often from someone who was no stranger to pies themselves.

Unless you're going to an arthouse cinema, start times have reliably been 25-30 minutes after the published start time across multiple cinemas since at least back when I went to watch Empire Strikes Back in 1980. You've had 45 years to work this out.

I -think- I remember the ad for that game. I don't recall ever playing it though and (Google) screenshots aren't ringing any bells. But yeah, IIRC at the time "made with The Quill" was something of a badge of honour so I'd guess it's highly likely. I may have imagined this however!
