I find that getting I nice fresh edge on a scraper and scraping end grain gets rid of burns faster. ..But it also might just be that I like scraping, it makes me feel like I'm more serious than I am! 😅

I think the steam bending is still a pretty common way to get the look though! This is a video showing what I pretty much did, but I used a Dremel and sanders... I'm not great with a carving knife! youtube.com/shorts/3q23k...

Maybe on the next one, but since I made it from two pieces of cherry, I cored the inside with a Dremel after cutting the rough curved chape. To do the steam bended stem, you need to buy some long drill bits specifically for that

(not)Controversial take: allocate every dollar you make or it will get spent. I find that if I don't specifically designate every dollar for a purpose, then anything that isn't "labeled" is free extra money and just gets spent wether it needs to be spent or not

I got a heating pad for my cats, and these two boys who normally don't like to lay near each other found a way to put up with sharing it 😂 #cats #aww #cute #blackcats

No lathe involved on this one. I made it the "easy" way. Two pieces of cherry temporarily taped together with double sided tape, cut a rough outline, unstick and cut the channel with a Dremel on each side, glue together and shape the pipe with whatever ya got. Surprisingly easy and fun

It's fully functional, tested it last night. I don't really plan to use it much, so it'll end up being a decoration, but it was a fun easier than expected project

What's the point of this article if it doesn't actually have the recipe or even link to it?

I've been making rattles for my friends' newborns as a gift, just made this guy, and I think it's my favorite so far! #woodworking #making #craft

The Commanders have given up an average of 137 rushing yards per game which is 3rd worst in the league. They do not have a top 5 rushing defense, they have a bottom 5.

They look like a lot of fun, I just gotta prepare for having 30 of them around the house as 8 practice!

The first slightly fancier pen kit I've turned, and I'm incredibly proud! Definitely an improvement. I think next I should get a chuck and do some small bowls or boxes! #woodworking #turning #making

There's a surprising selection of kits like this, but most of them are handles for garden or kitchen tools. Happy I could find something interesting and pretty unique like this

I got the hardware for making the humidors from Rockler woodworking, so the metal bits that you see in the picture as well as bushings for turning it on the lathe

Two more Christmas gifts down as I continue my adventures with the lathe! These Rockler kits make it pretty simple, but man am I stunned by how the purple heart turned out! #woodworking #turning #making

When life gives you lemons, and half your pen blank breaks on the lathe, you combine it to another blank that broke in half... And make lemonade #woodworking #penturning #turning #making

First shot at an epoxy pen blank. Turning epoxy is definitely different, I think wood is easier, but the way epoxy polishes up is incredible! #woodworking #wood #epoxy #turning #making

It makes perfect sense but I never would have thought to do it that way. Really, great job. I may give it a shot thanks so much!

Thanks! I didn't make most of the art, but I did take a very long time to put them into a cohesive collage. Unfortunately I didn't have anything to put it on, so now it lives on shop furniture! 🤷‍♂️

Personally I agree with you, I think the natural wood looks great! I definitely don't have the experience to say which one would sell better though! Good luck!

Cool idea: do a white base paint, then a green chalk paint on top, sand away to give a distressed look, but only in the spots you want a snow look?

No worries, it will make for a fun experiment to play with different sizes myself. All a part of the process, and the process is the best part! Thank you though!

The cylinder was brutal! Especially because you couldn't really just dump all of the pieces in there anyway, they needed some uniformity to all fit!

I'll happily share the file! But it's really just a modified box from boxes.py with the logo on it. The only important thing to add is the bit on the inside to help you lift it out!

Did you know that the new box that Jenga comes in is a big rectangle? So if you try to store it as a tower, the box has too much space, so the blocks end up in a big mess! So I made my own! Closer to how the box used to be for Jenga #lasercutting #woodworking #making #boardgames

Possibly the olcooleat thing I've ever done. I built some drawers for storage in my garage, so I decided to give it a little bit of flair. Laser etched MDF drawer fronts with a Philly collage I put together on Photoshop #woodworking #lasercutting #making

For my first bluesky post, here's a really cool laser/woodworking/electronics project I made last year as a gift for a friend! It's laser etched glass with a really awesome Philly skyline design (not mine), wired in some LEDs and a battery to really show it off!
