Why is DeBoer constantly rolling his right-handed QB out to the left, forcing him to throw across his body? It hasn’t worked yet.

I love how you can see the cycle of balances slowly increasing throughout the year, getting a bump at Christmas, everybody using their tax return to pay them down, then it just starts all over again.

And, honestly, it's not the "librarian as finder and protector of mystical artifacts" thing that bugs me. It's the "academic who has no idea what they want to do and no focus on a specific topic falls into librarianship" thing, which...true, but also...rude.

I just realized that Laura and I always spend this weekend in Stillwater so this is the first time I’ve experienced marathon morning traffic. This is awful. It took us 15 minutes to get two blocks from home.

16) Enchanted Oreo. They say something about having “Ube flavor,” which is a purple yam used in Philippine deserts for its color and sweetness. It’s indistinguishable from a regular Oreo blizzard, except it’s purple. If you like Oreo blizzards, you’ll like this, so it’s getting the same score. 6/10

I feel like this is a good representation of the TV “canon,” such that it exists for the 21st century. There are better shows missing, there are maybe some more groundbreaking shows missing, but this feels like a pretty good reflection of the last 25-ish years of television.

15) Brown Sugar Cookie Dough. I'm torn on this one. The ice cream has really good flavor but the cookie dough bites are very one note and aren't noticeably different from the ice cream. Every bit tastes exactly the same. This needs something else to make it anything more than passable. 5/10

It doesn't have much from genres that aren't considered serious TV (Bojack the only animated, little reality, no news, variety, or children's shows). This does feel like the closest thing to a 21st c. television canon to me. Are there better shows? Sure, but they're more niche and less well known.

It is heavy in shows that received a lot of Emmy attention (GoT, Succession, Mad Men) and shows that built acclaim over time or after they've finished (Breaking Bad, Friday Night Lights, Atlanta, The Wire). The more people you include, the fewer off-beat or non-traditional shows you get.

14) Pumpkin Pie. The first non-chocolate Blizzard where they made a real effort to flavor the ice cream. I like pumpkin ice cream. I like this. This is what I wanted the Biscoff Blizzard to be. The whipped cream is a great addition and the cookie mix-ins the perfect texture. Basic, but great. 9/10

Prices increased 23% in the four years between Election Day 1980 and Election Day 1984 and Reagan ran a campaign about how it was “Morning Again in America” and won the biggest landslide in presidential history.

28% is also the amount that prices increased in the seven years leading up to the 1988 election and yet Bush kept Republicans in power by a margin that hasn't been reached since.

On the other hand, they tried to build a data center in the town next door, on the last piece of developable land, at a major intersection, in a city that is already needing more housing. It was very clear that the best use for that land was housing and other high-traffic business.

I think location matters the most. There's a monster Meta data center not too far from where I work, but it's in an undeveloped area that was otherwise unused. It's now contributing $750,000 to state and local coffers each year. I haven't heard much in the way of opposition.

Pretty good representation, I'd say. Used my native speech because there are a few things I've intentionally changed (pop to soda, y'all or you all for you guys), but it seemed to consistently flip between Minnesota and Iowa which, since I'm originally from southeastern South Dakota, makes sense.

I’m not a professional investigator, but don’t these decisions raise the obvious question of “What did she *not* report that might have been unfavorable to Vrabel?” Like, if you only look at her public work and you don’t look at their comms, how do you know she didn’t spike anything?

That’s third of the US that would be worse off given a Swedish-style tax rate, if I’m understanding you right. Not that it isn’t worth it, but kind of gets to the point that telling a very rich country that “actually you’re poor and struggling” is going to make it hard to expand the welfare state.

It's not even "basic middle class lifestyle." The basket of goods includes enough savings to pay full-freight for your kids to go to college. So it's "basic middle class lifestyle" plus an extra $4k or so per kid per year (assuming it's invested for 18 years).

Okay, once we got off the highway, the Express Bus was really nice. Too bad the loading process (and maybe not having enough buses) doubled the time it took. But we are here.

We are now into our second hour of trying to get to the State Fair via Metro Transit. The “Express” bus decided to take 35W for some reason so we’re now stuck with traffic going downtown, too.

That's just not true. There are a lot of families who make good money (but not 7 figures) who have good health insurance from their employers who will end up paying more under M4A. That's not to say we shouldn't do it, but it is worth figuring out how to convince them and not just handwaving it away

13) Caramel Apple Cheesecake. Falls into the same pits as the other "fine" blizzards. The caramel flavor is too subtle and the apple only really hits when you bit into a piece of apple. Bonus point because cheesecake is still the best mix-in for texture. Also still not a fruit for dessert guy. 5/10

12) Reese’s. I’m not sure why, but I thought this was going to be Reese’s Pieces when it’s actually Peanut Butter Cups. Another banger standard, right up there with M&M as a classic that can’t go wrong. Nothing putting it over the top. But I’d order this any time. 8/10
