Thank you, Liru. I have edited the articles on my websites. And I will remove the social media posts too.

Hi Liru, I don’t think the issue stemmed from miscommunication — but from a lack of direct communication altogether. I couldn’t find any verifiable sources at the time. As long as the project still uses Zoey, I’m OK with it. Could you share links to the current project and the mascot page?

I have timelapse recording for every artwork I create since this splash (2025-08). But I know nothing about video editing. That'll take some time to learn. I write about my creative process in detail on recent works, you can read those on my website.

I mean, I did try to make it look refreshing XD

I designed quite a bunch of FOSS mascots, actually. Kiki was my first, and redesigning Konqi was the second.

钛山 (Tyson Tan) @tysontan.com · 07/04/2026

Sometimes writing the process down can be helpful. Like I mentioned in the article, the experience working on Freedom Planet 2 began to fade away after a few years.

It's inline with the free and open source spirit to share knowledge. By writing it down, inspirations during the process don't get forgotten. Once I learned how to edit videos, I will post the timelapse recordings too.

Yeah, they share the same seawater theme, though I never played the game. I watched Northernlion play it XD

This is the splash art I created for Krita 5.3.0 / 6.0.0, aiming to depict a refreshing and pleasant summer seaside scene. Full version, source file and creative process can be found on my website in my profile info.

This generation grew up with great mech titles, many of them are obsessed with Robot plastic models and toys. When the artists among them went to work, they are working in the most competitive art industry which makes them very capable. I'm just a hobbyist, I'm nothing near their level.

I use Manjaro Linux with opentabletdriver to use Huion devices.

020

钛山 (Tyson Tan) @tysontan.com · 27/02/2026

Huion and XP-PEN say they support Linux and provided official Linux drivers. But none of them actually worked, because those drivers only supports Ubuntu 20.04 or something, while being released in 2026. It's just a token gesture. I have to use opentabletdriver to use them under Linux.

Gee I saw your comment and went back to read that article -- the writing was atrocious. XD I have rewritten it completely now because it kept me up at night.

Thanks. Her name is Kiki, by the way.

钛山 (Tyson Tan) @tysontan.com · 27/02/2026

If people try to implement every FOSS mascot I designed in STK, it's going to cause a huge logistic burden for it. Having Konqi and Kiki in there is already quite an honor to me.

Xiaoyu the Cyber Rabbit is the mascot I designed for YueScript, a free and open source programming language. She is a robot rabbit. More on my website in my profile.

Yes. An anime furry robot squirrel XD

020

钛山 (Tyson Tan) @tysontan.com · 11/02/2026

Actually, the splash crop was the one that got flipped. Just you know. XD

钛山 (Tyson Tan) @tysontan.com · 11/02/2026

I will still be her, just with another theme.

000

钛山 (Tyson Tan) @tysontan.com · 11/02/2026

People on the KDE sub forum first figured out word Krita in Albanian is squirrel, and there was already drawings of a normal squirrel holding a brush. I just draw an anime furry robot of that idea, and it stuck. I iterated the design every time I drew a new splash. Nothing was planned.

Not so fast, I think there are many REAL mecha artists out there that can do better than me. Like the Mega Man Zero guy, The Gundam AOZ guy and so on. I'm just a hobbyist here. XD

Yeah, one of the reasons that I began to draw on paper was that I rediscovered my old pencil sketches in last October and found them not as bad as I remembered and they have a charm that missing in my digital art.

钛山 (Tyson Tan) @tysontan.com · 26/01/2026

It has been more than a decade that I draw on real media with genuine effort. I'm glad they turned out okay.
