Started Lost Odyssey on the ol' 360 at a friend's rec. I am already on board.

A writeup on my experience with the new Onimusha. Many things I wish were better, some compromises I see the ideas for, and even some cool surprises, but I am happy to see a new title. backloggd.com/u/Typewriter...

TypewriterDA's review of Onimusha: Way of the Sword | Backloggd
In many respects, I think I can call Onimusha: Way of the Sword a compromise, not only as far as a return of an old Capcom franchise, but in lieu of how it’s very much a title that has a lot of good t...

When I first saw demo footage, I had some reservations, but playing it myself and seeing the little features and the like, I came away liking nu-Onimusha's bosses. A few changes I'd make tie into how some of the older games work, though the game's strengths/focus went here.

I genuinely don't know how to talk about this game, only that I can call it one of the best games I've ever played - and that makes feel I wrote a generic appraisal of how great it was. But it's exactly that. backloggd.com/u/Typewriter...

TypewriterDA's review of Tales of Destiny: Director's Cut | Backloggd
When I first endeavored into the Tales franchise, I wouldn’t necessarily say I had any expectations, just curiosity to play something new and different. The surface-pitch I was given: games that incor...

I'm not very far in the new Onimusha and I had some things beforehand that gave me pause and some things playing I wish were different, but there are so many cool little things going on with the interactions that I'm enjoying myself, esp. during the bosses.

In light of how it's its anniversary and I did replay ReCoM recently, I did confirm DDD is my favorite non-mainline (consider them Final Mix versions) KH game. If there is a single entry in that series that deserves more credit, it's the one.

I'm going off of memory here but I think what I specifically figured out with Demon Elvis was that if you dodge under swings and counter with a launcher (possibly guard break), it staggered him consistently.

Dan A. @typewriterda.bsky.social · 31/07/2026
So funny thing is, I replayed this one 2 years ago and intentionally restricted some of my movesets (no roulettes/god hand) vs bosses and asked myself to change said moveset per boss and I found ways to set up consistent stuns even on some of the demon bosses, etc. (except Angra, he sucks).

I tend to think you can learn things from people who know more or less than you but it is baffling how many of these people just want to be 'right' instead of actually seeing things as a learning, collaborative experience. This isn't a competition.

A friend of mine I got into KH fought him a few months ago and said he was struggling. Me: Use the force Them: That's not funny. Me: On the contrary Seph and SecretlyXem are so wonderful. They really are the definitive "use offensive magic as defense" bosses and can still mess you up.

Beat him again, this time finding a safer and more consistent build/party/arte setup based around ranges and what he wasn't resistant to. Worked like a charm, think I can beat him consistently.

I have long had extensive thoughts on it because it hasn't really left my mind despite these admissions, and many of those are concerning the things I do like. I tend to think it's important to stick by your guns on things but this game has polarization for reasons. And it's ok to admit why.

FF16 after 3 yrs: I freely admit I have fun/sentimentalisms for the title, though it absolutely is a game that should've been better and the ways it kneecaps itself from that is baffling. I have sentimentalism for it, though I can be honest in assessing it's fatal flaws as someone who still likes it

Justin Gaethje has one of the most storied, fascinating histories of any fighter I've seen whom had never lived up to his potential. And then, when counted out, he showed he could versus Ilia Topuria. This writeup discusses his history and victory. danalbert.substack.com/p/locking-ho...

I mean, if you somehow cannot see the whole white house event tonight is disguised spectacle as a capitalist reward for the UFC's partnership/affiliation with that admin, I don't know what to tell ya. As a card, it's fine. As usual, it's not the best they can do, which is par for the course.

Incredible exchange today as I explained to a client how them calling & not leaving a voice message means I have no idea what they're calling for, leading to: Them: "What are you, autistic or something?" Me: "Yes, I am. Do you have any other questions about our office policy?"

The third trilogy installment of this 7R project has been fun to experience combat-wise, so I'll happily play another. The narrative piece I approach with cautious optimism. I ultimately remain respectful that they played some stuff differently even if it's messy at points.

Out of morbid curiosity, I checked out Forspoken boss gameplay and oh dear god, I think I found my threshold limit of what too much quipping is that somehow the mostly boring gameplay (I don't want to make unfair assumptions, it may well not be for me though) somehow became secondary

I haven't been able to play a lot of games the last month due to life. Destiny DC is still the priority though 007 First Light had to be purchased because it's the first time in ages since the Uncharted series I'll get to play something with my brother that we both have an interest in.

This year has not been particularly emotionally great to me. There have been enormous disappointments and realizations that have gotten to me bad enough that I had to acknowledge I hit limits. I'm long-learned to not feel shame for that. At the same time, man, just, you kinda wish it stopped.

There is an incredibly distinct possibility that if my read on who they are is right, Josh Van and Lone'er Kavanagh are going to have a prospect all-timer contest in a few years because they both uncannily remind me of Israel Vazquez and Rafael Marquez.

Am rewatching the final act of G Gundam & it will never not cease to amaze that one of the main antagonists is an environmentalist and he wants to use an eldritch mech to do it while he himself pilots this batman-looking robot. It's so perfect, it's why G is one of the best ones.

It's amazing how you can be open about supporting human rights and being against mass killings but people will say you've been completely silent about one topic (even if you haven't been) that they make an assumption that thing doesn't make you horribly angry itself.

So just walked out of my brother's uni graduation ceremony a dean of human sciences says AI is a welcoming, foremost leader of change and then follows that up by going on about establishing interpersonal, aware connections and this is some level of strange cognitive dissonance.
