We're about to add an AI chatbot as a support option. This is the warning we're showing users before starting the chat. It's pretty minor, but I love injecting a bit of humor and personality into the app like this.
A warning shown in our app before you start chatting with an AI support bot. The copy says: Sometimes AI is dumb. We've worked hard to train our chatbot to answer whatever you throw at it. But if it gets weird, come back to the help center to talk to a real person.

As tech people, when designing features, we tend to get overly clever. But then when you talk to normal people using the software, the things they actually care about tend to be way more basic than you'd ever expect. Keep it simple.

And yet, it does catch up with you eventually. I don't think Amazon would be worth what they are if their website still looked like this. I agree that redesigns are probably needed much less frequently than they actually happen.

This page is a fun example of Google sucking: developers.google.com/identity/bra... The top section recommends using the first image as the logo. The next section shows the second image, a "G" with a gradient. Below that, it says that the first image is using an outdated logo which isn't allowed!

Same, more or less. For us, it's "I heard about you from someone". Here are the sources from paying customers over time. Red is almost entirely "googled our brand name" meaning they heard about us independently and then looked us up. That's 85% of our new paying customers now.
A chart of signups over time, color-coded by the source (but without labels for what each color represents). Red accounts for 85% of all signups currently.

People underestimate how hard it is to get trustworthy self-reported data. For example, people say "ask users where they heard about you on the signup form" thinking that the answers will be correct. Here's a feedback form we just got. Note: Nothing about our software relates to phone calls.

Here's an example of how many little details Claude Design gets wrong when working with a complex SaaS app (as opposed to a simple marketing site). Claude Design on the left, Figma on the right. It's good enough to prototype an idea, but there's now way this replaces Figma for pixel-perfect designs

I think the issue is that the menu you're showing here is the inline menu (when you select specific inline text, not an entire block), but turning something into a quote is a block-level action. If you click the drag handler, there's a "Turn into" option which lets you turn it into a quote.
A Notion menu showing a number of options include "Turn into"

I opened up Firefox just now and saw this. Looks like I clearly got malware somehow, right? That VPN thing looks sooooo bad and sketchy. Nope, Firefox just added it as a built-in feature and decided to make it look like shit for some reason.

This might be my favorite review ever. I know that businesses use all the shady tricks for a reason (it works) but every once in a while, it works to just not do any of that crap.
A Trustpilot review saying: Is this integrity I'm sensing??

Is this integrity I'm sensing??? 9month old small business owner here. Getting started, I have been sucked into many a disappointing/scam subscription and have had to set up some base rules after learning things the hard way. Example: use the entire free trial period and only sign up for the one month subscription (you know - bc that reduced annual one has a no-refund policy attached in the event of any issues....). I am 3 days short of my free trial with LA ending and am loving the simplicity for my minimal needs - with options to add automations, forms, and custom fields - along with pipeline management. Yes, other providers offer these things but make it SOOOO complex to utilize - there is definite training needed for use. But with LA it is so user friendly and common sensical - like the next logical step is the actual step! I knew in my first few days of use I was going to sign up.
As I went to start the subscription I noticed - weird. $15 a month or $180 a year ($15x12)?....no gimmicky sales lures? Just $15...at my convenience?
With three days left I figured I would just sign up today (so I didn't miss it) and eat the last 3 trial days. After inputting my information it showed my next due date was 3/26 - in 3 days. With the the subscription installment due so close to signing up, I assumed (based on my experiences with the ways other companies operate in this space) they were back-charging me for my trial now and then charging me again my next month in 3 days....BUT NOPE!! Imagine my surprise that they were still honoring the additional 3 free days of my trial before billing my new subscription!

Just WOW - simple, easy to use, transparent, and fair? Could this be true? I am impressed and if this isn't a fairytale - I just may be a lifer! :)

Sometimes AI is so good that I worry for my job. Other times I ask for an svg of an "attach file" icon and get this. We're going to be ok for a while longer.
A screenshot of a design from ChatGPT that shows a paperclip icon indicating that a file can be attached, but the entire thing looks terrible. There's text on top of the image, and there's a weird note-looking thing that doesn't fit at all.

Here's the most recent test we ran on our signup page. I *much* prefer Variation #2 for a variety of reasons, but I wanted to test it to make sure my intuition isn't way off. Variation 2 might not be better, but I'm confident it's not meaningfully worse, so we're going with it.

I fully agree about the icons, but luckily I think it actually looks really good with the LACRM icon. Our normal one is flat (two colors, no gradients or shadows)

I hate that Reddit seems to be going down the same growth hacking black hole that Facebook did years ago. In what world is it ok to send me this as a push notification? I've been getting more and more of these and don't see a way to turn them off.

I've also felt conflicted, but our only real option is to participate in society. But that's still not permission to get in on every terrible grift that exists. To me, the US economy has gone from "hold my nose while I participate" to "this is a straight-up scam and I shouldn't be a part of it"

According to Google Search Console, our clicks have been pretty stable over the last year, but the impressions have gone way up over the last few months (so CTR is much lower). Anyone else seeing this? I assume this is related to changes Google is making and not our site 🤷

Main headwind: The number of people trying the form builder for the first time is decreasing slightly as we saturate our existing customer base. I expect this number to get cut in half long-term (half of these people are new users right now, half are old users). So growth is going to get harder.

Updates on our form builder project: - Submissions keep going up. We're at ~900/week right now (goal: 1,200/week by July 1st). Slow but steady. - We redesigned the form and moved the "powered by" link. That change doubled the click-through rate which is a huge win.

Trying to figure out how to incorporate a little bit of AI-generated advice into LACRM without pissing off users. Does AI actually offer an opportunity to promote how awesome our human support is?

In case anyone's curious what support volume looks like for a very support-focused company like us, here it is. We have a support team of ~8 people, each spending 4 days per week on support (they each spend one day per week on other projects).
A table showing support volume in 2024 vs 2025. The rows say:

Emails sent (CRMCS)	113	97
Inbound calls (in-hours)	28	24
Booked call hours	5.7	7.3
Contact forms	30	25

Update: Three months later, the chart looks like this. We still have a long way to go (5k submissions/week is the goal) but things are headed in the right direction. We're also seeing a ~2% click-through rate on the "powered by" link. I *think* 5k submissions * 2% click-through could work!

Pretty wild that Amazon knows this package was lost in shipping and they just don't have any way to address that. None of the "return or replace" options are "I never got this". What a terrible UX. Note: If you click around enough there is a "replace" option, but it's hidden pretty well

I don't normally like to pick on our government because I mostly think they're doing their best in very challenging conditions. But my god, they *chose* to take this service down for *two-weeks* during the main time of year when most people would need to use this service? That's clown behavior.

For years, I've been talking about building a viral loop into LACRM. We're finally launching a form builder. It's so different from other features because it's not enough for people to like it, they have to actually use it! We're grinding to activate each user one by one. Feels like the early days
