Appreciated this heuristic in @randyau.com’s excellent newsletter to answering a question I ask myself regularly when doing code reviews.

So here are the questions I ask myself to help determine if something is actually worth commenting on:
1. What is the author trying to do here? e.g. answer a question, summarize some data, etc
2. Did they accomplish what they set out to do? e.g. yes/no/sorta
3. Are they making any assumptions that might not be valid? e.g. upstream data quality
4. Is there something going on they might not be considering? e.g. how people might be using their output
