My hang up with the main series games is that they’re all about hunting and I just can’t get into that, but the Stories games are about raising the monsters instead, and yeah, the gameplay does seem easier to grasp too, lol.

I still need to play this series myself too! I started the demos for the first two games and even bought them but never played more than that, lol. But I could see myself actually playing through the Stories games, unlike the main series Monster Hunter games, lol.

Next month is the 20-year anniversary of my YouTube debut… Even though I don’t upload new videos anymore, I’ve considered making a 20th anniversary sequel to *that* video—the first video I ever filmed, edited, and uploaded… But *should* I? lol I’m not even sure what I’d do, or if I have the time to…

And yet both are relatively obscure, not particularly popular characters who rarely get much attention or fan art or anything.

If only it was easier, though… But I’m glad you’re putting effort into that and seeing good results! I need to push myself to keep trying to do the same, too…

Those thoughts cut so deeply and only feel worse over time, making you question how much you could have done, who you could have been, etc., if it weren’t for the chronic depression or executive dysfunction or whatever it is keeping you from everything… …But that’s why you gotta fight it like that!

It’s amusing how Sonic and Star Fox are both series in which the canonically most powerful entities in their respective universes are tanuki characters with super advanced technology who choose to remain neutral and use their power for personal gain or entertainment instead of actually helping, lol.

Still no discount on the first season pass, though…?

Pretty sure the last one is how I got terrible food poisoning once. Someone must have left some frozen veggies or plant-based sausage (not sure which it was) out of the freezer but then it got put back in and we happened to buy that one, and I got super sick after eating it.

Tye @tyenuki.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

But it is absolute nonsense, of course, as is the fact that the government continues to HEAVILY subsidize animal agriculture but not more sustainable (and less cruel) food sources. We could’ve solved world hunger, stopped the climate crisis, AND ended mass animal cruelty all at the same time…but no.

010

Tye @tyenuki.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

There is also the fact that many of those in power generally LIKE the obscene atrocities we regularly commit to nonhuman animals because it puts them “above” them (the same applies to oppressed human minorities too, of course) and challenging that status quo would threaten their perceived hierarchy.

And I guess they’re using currency rather than points now, but aside from that it looks to be the same. “Random Pull” only refers to one of those nine items on the current weekly card. It does suck that you have to wait until certain weeks for certain items, but otherwise it’s not so much a “gacha”.

010

Tye @tyenuki.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

So how it worked in the last game, every week there was a new item card (rotating yearly, so nothing is truly missable) and playing sports online gave you points towards unlocking the items on the card, randomly until you completed the card. It looks to be the same here, but not exclusive to online.

It’s the biggest reason why I’d use a Sportsmate over my Mii, lol. There are other nonhuman Sportsmate bodies too, like squirrel, shark, panda, bird, and rabbit! Assuming all of them return from the first game, that is (but it seems like they will). And clearly there will be new ones too, like fox!!

110

Tye @tyenuki.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

YOU CAN BE A FOX SPORTSMATE IN NINTENDO SWITCH SPORTS RESORT AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA—!!! It’s not a tanuki, but I’ll take it!!

We do what we can. Climate change will destroy us all (if war doesn’t first), but the single best thing we could be doing to combat that (and to prevent needless cruelty and death of literally trillions of lives) is to stop supporting animal agriculture, the leading cause of the climate crisis.

Right?! I was totally expecting it to happen with the Star Fox icon elements, too…but then it didn’t. 😭 Hopefully you’ll get your Clefairy some day!!

Tye @tyenuki.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

There’s yet to be one that has made me want to use it over my Mii either. If we would’ve gotten a Yaru de Pon icon for Star Fox that might’ve made me switch, though…
