The LED in the upper left is orange because the unit is running on its own internal UPS battery. The case of a unit is open, showing a vertical mainboard with two 32 MB SIMMs, a 486 covered by a heat sink, and a transcend 8 GB IDE flash. The new Android clock icon is trying to be clever (is it a clock? Is it a sundial?) but ends up just being visually much less identifiable and distinctive then the previous perfectly good clock looking icon. The massive white border is also a net loss.
An Android app icon, clock-like, completely circular, thick white border, blue circle inside, white clock hand almost at noon, dark hand pointing sort of towards 2:00, and dark but not totally black in a way that looks like it might be a shadow for the white hand if the white hand was sticking straight out.

Uh ... Routledge / Vitalsource, you're obviously operating from a strange usage of the word "perpetual" that I wasn't previously aware of.
How Long Will My eBook Be Available?

Routledge.com provides eBooks via VitalSource, which offers lifetime access to your eBook. Beginning June 15th, 2021, books with a perpetual eBook license will have five years of online access. During this time, you will have unlimited access to your book through Bookshelf online. However, this may change after the online perpetual license has expired. Any direct downloads you’ve made throughout that time to your device via the Bookshelf app will still be available, even after the online perpetual license has expired. More information on lifetime access.

Just saw the 2025 Colombian film "A Poet". Not an easy film, but a worthwhile one. www.imdb.com/title/tt36544524
Movie poster for the film "A POET" set against a solid, vibrant red background.
In the center stands a middle-aged man with dark, messy hair, a beard, mustache, and wire-rimmed glasses. He has a somber, downward expression and is dressed in a light-colored, short-sleeved, button-down plaid shirt tucked into blue jeans with a dark belt.
Massive, stylized white serif letters reading "PO" (on the top row) and "ET" (on the bottom row) frame the man, with a smaller white letter "A" nested inside the loop of the "P", spelling out the full title "A POET". Small white text centered at his feet reads "a film by Simón Mesa Soto".
Top Text:
Top Left: The Festival de Cannes "Un Certain Regard" 2025 Jury Prize laurels logo.
Top Right: "OFFICIAL ENTRY: COLOMBIA / BEST INTERNATIONAL FEATURE FILM / 98th ACADEMY AWARDS®".
Bottom Text:
Bottom Left: A review quote in white serif font: "“HILARIOUS. A truly unique cinematic experience.” – Murtada Elfadl, Variety".
Bottom Right: A detailed block of white production credits and studio logos.

Just going to leave this here for future use. And present use. And past use. www.angryflower.com/functi.html
A black-and-white comic strip titled "Functionality" from angryflower.com.
Panel 1: Bob the Angry Flower looks pensively at a large, dome-headed robot with a ribbed body and flexible, pipe-like arms. Bob says, "Well, you're a robot, but I'm not really sure what kind..."
Panel 2: Bob points toward a workbench in the background, saying, "Go over there and hammer some nails, I guess..."
Panel 3: The robot stands at the workbench covered in loose nails, picking up a standard hand hammer.
Panel 4: With a "clunk", the robot leans down to hit a nail.
Panel 5: Another "clunk". A nearby stationary, complex machine with multiple mechanical arms and built-in hammers pops into the frame, asking, "Need some help?"
Panel 6: The machine explains, "It's just that I got a lotta hammers and I was kinda built for the express purpose of hammering but I never actually got to hammer anything..." The robot flatly replies, "Negative."
Panel 7: The robot continues hammering ("clunk") while the hammer-machine watches.
Panel 8: The hammer-machine strains in existential frustration, vibrating wildly with an intense "UNNNNNGGGHHH!!!!!" as its many internal hammers flail, while the robot continues its slow, manual "clunk".

From an extremely generous, anonymous donor. Of the keys in my lab/museum, the story for this one is probably the best ever -- gonna be telling this one for years! #YubiKey #SRE
Photo of a well-loved red YubiKey and a large round sticker. Sticker will be described later. Both are laying on a printed page with the following words:

> I added one more item into the package before sending - a red USB-A Gnubby. I didn't include it in the photo because I wasn't sure at first that I wanted to part with it. The red gnubbies were issued only to Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) to use for storing emergency credentials. I was an SRE for [N] years during the [YYYY]s and have fond memories of my time in that role, so it has some sentimental value for me, but I figure a collection like yours is the proper place for it. I also tossed in an SRE sticker to go with it.

> The wider context for these red keys is a bit complicated to explain. Every Google office with an SRE contingent has a "panic room" - a designated room that has a dedicated network link that connects directly into the Google production network, with the link itself protected by a safe. It's there as a last resort in the case of catastrophic network failure where the usual Google corporate network is down for some reason. But you need special emergency credentials to use it, and that's what the red key was for. Besides simulated drills I think I only ever used the panic room maybe twice in my entire time as an SRE. It's one of those things you don't need until you really need it.

> Enjoy!A Google SRE "panic room" YubiKey, in a distinctive red, at an oblique "hero" angle, laying on a white background.

It's a compact, rectangular hardware security key, with a well-worn USB-A connector, a familiar gold contact sensor (a circular, textured gold capacitive button in the center, with a dot and three radiating arced lines), and a circular cutout keyring hole at the top with patterns of wear around it (oxidation from a keyring, etc.)A circular sticker featuring a dark blue background and a thin white border. Centered is a stylized, yellow creature combining features of a dragon and a seahorse. It stands upright with a segmented body, a horned head, and a long, curled tail. Expanding from its back are sharp, flame-like yellow wings.

Layered behind the creature's neck and over the wings are large, bold, red stylized letters that read SFTE in a sharp, aggressive font. Across the bottom, the creature's claws grip a grey, flowing scroll. The scroll contains the Latin inscription "Spes consilium non est" in black serif text. This phrase is commonly translated as "Hope is not a plan" or "Hope is not a strategy." The design is characteristic of a military-style unit insignia or a professional emblem for the Society of Flight Test Engineers.

Putting tracking _on a link to my tracking settings_ is traditionally frowned upon, Google.
Updates to our partner ads setting control

Dear Google User,

At Google, we believe you should always be in control of your data. That's why we've built My Ad Center and many Google Account tools, like Privacy Checkup, that make it easy to manage your data, privacy, and security settings.

Building on these controls, we’re introducing a new setting through Google Partner ad settings [link] that lets you choose whether to provide additional information to advertising partners when you visit websites and apps that partner with Google. This data allows advertising partners to select which ads to show you and measure ad performance.

You can learn more about the tools you have available through Google, and about controls across partner sites and apps.
