but I'd hesitate to outright block, since people would absolutely change attributes if they know it's happening just to get around it, and I also know of people who will temporarily adjust their own attributes because they are wanting to attract more of a certain attribute, but are flexible.

I seem to recall there's a dating site that I used once upon a time that allowed pre-filtering messages based on attributes like that into a "silent" inbox... so users can still message, but sans notifications/badges and shows up in a different list... 100% think it's worthwhile...

A lot of dating sites allow filtering- cool. But they all seem to make decisions about whether things should be AND vs OR filtering. My radical opinion is that users should have the option of more advanced filtering semantics and be able to save those queries. Ex: from a CDN admin UI that I like.
