It's been really hard for me to focus my energy and time on essentially what are passion projects, like my books, with everything that is going on. But I'm slowly plugging away at it, I've edited two chapters and I'm making progress on the drawing I'm doing for my wife's birthday coming up.

I knew we were in trouble when the response from cis people to the rise of political transphobia was "this only affects a tiny minority of people." It was a signal that they weren't going to refute the pseudoscience or attacks and instead just stop advocating for trans equality entirely.

I just saw an article about a trans woman that was deported to Africa despite not knowing the language, not knowing anyone, and not even being from that country. It was horrible. The comments were horrible too... These people really, genuinely hate us with such a passion that theyve lost humanity.

Deserving is a tough one for me. Its very hard for me to not feel like what I get is what I deserve, but that would mean I have internalized that I have earned the trauma, and abuse that I have been subjected to, and I imagine that a therapist would tell me not to do that lol.

This right here! I see the healing that can come from being able to find community with others of similar experiences, to bond as women who have overcome such traumatic events, and who can help one another. For those spaces to be so incredible hostile to women like me is beyond heartbreaking.

It's really important to have conversations about the sexual abuse women are constantly subjected to but as a SA survivor it's very difficult to talk about it, especially as a trans woman because people refuse to believe that we are women at all, or that we have the same experiences as other women.
