I think there is a place for AI in your coding workflow, I genuinely think there is, but NOT the entire workflow, and certainly not the kind of AI we're burning down the planet for.

Old man yells at clouds territory here but I am just really tired of me asking someone for help solving a problem/to look over my notes on a thing/whatever else in this specific hobby (or whatever you wanna call it) and being told to use AI instead of actually trying to figure it out.

It confidently says things like "this will work!" and then when it doesn't work people get surprised? People don't even check the output of this stuff. The few times I've tried it just out of pure curiosity I have been disappointed by how incorrect it has been. This is where society is headed?

You expect me to believe your fancy autocomplete has context for what I am asking it to do? It has stolen all content from the internet and somehow just KNOWS what byte offset to tell me to use? How? Who told it? It just DECIDED that it knows?

Am I an actual idiot and does doing this myself take like 10x longer than throwing it at an AI and burning down the rain forest? Yeah almost certainly this is the case, but at the same time I can already write my own code that is full of mistakes, I don't need the computer to do it for me!

I'm not interested in doing this, I'm not interested in learning how to do this (okay, I sort of am, because I can't wrap my head around how people claim this works), I do not want anyone to tell me how to set this up, I do not want to use autocomplete to hack a dll file. I just do not.

A ~thing~ I work on recently switched from 32bit windows xp to 64bit windows 10 and I have been updating my scripts and tools to work with the new thing. People KEEP telling me just throw AI at it. I have been trying really hard to be polite and push back against their suggestions here.

Something in my brain told me to look up an ex. They're not doing well. I should send them an unsolicited text with a vaguely political meme. That should help. Haven't talked to them in a very long time so I'm sure they will enjoy this. 10/10 advice I would give to anyone is to do this.

One of my favorite emotions is that feeling you get when you go to the hardware store and get stuff to do a thing but don't start on it for a few days and then a black hole opens up and swallows up just the stuff you bought. Is there any better feeling in the world than that?

Bought a new desoldering thing (manual, not the mooing kind) so I can recap a board this weekend and also redo the quick connects on the esp water sensor for the sump pump pit. Might just desolder other things for fun while I'm at it, like the economy
