Shirley (the cat) was chirping at the bedroom window as I was getting ready for the day today. I went to the window to see his concern. It was a bald eagle eating a snake in the back yard.

I hurriedly snapped the photo from behind a screened window. Still, it was majestic. Low quality image of a bald eagle eating a snake in my back yard. The photo was hastily taken from behind a screened, closed window.

I harvested exactly one pumpkin from my garden this year. Shirley has claimed it for himself as a seasonal toy. At least he's happy.

He continues to investigate and claim as his own a small, orange pumpkin, the only edible pumpkin of the garden this year.

Sometimes I just want to soak in a relaxing bath alone. The cat wanted to join in. He seemed to enjoy it. He even stayed for a rinsing shower. At least we're clean now.

I knew bringing a dog into a cat household would take major adjustments. Shirley isn't ready to leave the security of under the bed to come meet BB yet. It's been 10 hours.
BB has never lived inside before. She found a pillow on her own and has made herself more comfortable. Shirley remains skeptical of the whole dog in his house business. He remains sheltered under the bed while BB doesn't care at all.

Shirley needs some adjustment time. I did feed him here while he finds his courage.

I picked up BB today for our new life together. Poor girl doesn't yet understand squeaky tennis balls, but she seems to like them. We are warming up to each other. #MedicinalRescueDog #IHaveAPrescription
BB, fresh from a bath, is discovering the best places to rest in the house. She is very sweet, not at all a puppy, and is now experiencing indoors for the first time. We are taking things slowly. BB walked over to her bed where her toys are, chose a hedgehog, and decided to investigate it in her new favorite spot.

This little girl will be coming to live with Shirley and me. She's 6yo, and has lost her elderly owner to a nursing home. Does anyone have any recommended toys for her? #RescueDog

My spring garden was a disaster. I hoped to plant pumpkins for fall. That's not going well either.
Pumpkin sprouts overtaking a planter under a crepe myrtle tree (with a water oak trying to grow in it). Dry, dead area in the vegetable garden. The only thing that grew well here this Spring was the waist high weeds. I tried planting the pumpkin sprouts in the garden. It's about eleventy million degrees outside, so no one was happy, especially the sprouts.

I gave poor Shirley some calming cat treats to help him refrain from obsessively grooming himself bald. I can't believe they worked. He's extremely calm. The calmness should last about 12 hours.
Poor black cat, Shirley, sleepily lying on the top perch of his white cat tree in front of his window. He has been obsessively grooming himself to the point of hair loss. He is under the care of his vet, and we are trying to find out why he is feeling so poorly and why he is displaying this new behavior.

It's either the calming cat treats or the uncomfortable collar of shame. Neither are good options, so hopefully we will have answers soon. I don't want to give him any more of these treats.

The weeds in the garden loves the rain over the weekend. I really should get some goats. I would love gardening more if not for weed control.
The side view of the vegetable garden shows some plant growth, but it highlights the healthy weeds. I dropped cantaloupe melon seeds on the corner here. They're growing. Some accidental sunflowers are growing too. Finally got heavy rain outside in the garden, so I made way too much baked ziti to keep me busy inside. The vegetables needed the rain. (The weeds are happy too).
The view of the vegetable garden from my doorstep. Rain is falling on rows of sprouting vegetables. Two small pans of freshly baked ziti pasta with Italian sausage and three cheeses. Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese are melted on top of ziti pasta coated in marinara sauce with chunks of Italian sausage mixed throughout. You can't see the ricotta cheese, but it's in there, and it's delicious! I had more Italian sausage and cheese than I had specifically ziti pasta. Same recipe as the baked ziti, but used elbow macaroni instead. This dish went to those to say thank you for assisting me in a big project this week.

My garden now has rows! I planted sunflowers and squash before becoming incapacitated. A passerby had to help me up from the ground. Thank you, kind lady!
Rows! The blue tractor plowing garden rows. This year I am adding one horizontal row to prevent row collapse from rain water drainage. I played sunflowers to the right, front, and squash to the left of that. That's when I became dizzy and had to lie down. I think I scared passing motorists because a very kind woman stopped and checked to see if I was okay. She helped me up and offered to walk me inside. I assured her that I was fine even though I really don't feel fine. I will be though. I have more to plant tomorrow. The view from on the ground. Freshly cut grass near my vegetable garden. I think they're making the ground lower these days.

I was convinced to try to make candles. "It's relaxing," they said. They lied! It's hard! The candle was supposed to be green.
