It seems the British Museum have broken new frontiers in the field of immersive exhibits.

It has been Affirmed. uquiz.com/quiz/zNnazQ/...
A screencap of my result from the It's A Superpower?? personality quiz. It is a brunette dressed as a Victorian ghost whose name is Norah. Her description is: 'Some people choose leadership - others have leadership thrust upon them by everyone else's incompetence. You are cursed with always knowing what needs to be done and how to do it, which unfortunately means you're the one who has to roll their sleeves up and get the fuck on with it. You complain about it, but you're secretly horrified when someone else tries to take over when they DON'T KNOW THE SYSTEM! Sometimes you overdo it and you burn out hard. OK, that "sometimes" is doing some heavy lifting...'

This is why 'truthiness' was designated word of the year in 2005. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truthin...
A screen capture from the abstract of the Wikipedia article on Truthiness: "Truthiness is the belief or assertion that a particular statement is true based on the intuition or perceptions of some individual or individuals, without regard to evidence, logic, intellectual examination, or facts. Truthiness can range from ignorant assertions of falsehoods to deliberate duplicity or propaganda intended to sway opinions."

In other news, I accidentally hit the AI search button in looking this up, and uh,
An AI overview of a search for "David Mitchell Hawaiian fascist" intriguingly disambiguates the search terms as indicating both a satirist and a Bahamian murderer.

Do you now, Terry? *Do* you understand what I'm asking? You didn't even sign your email 😥
Dear Sarah,
Thank you for your thoughtful questions. I completely understand why you would want clarification before moving forward, especially regarding the email address, the contact details, and how the messages were prepared.
You are essentially asking for clear confirmation about who is contacting you, why I reached out directly rather than through a producer, why the email addresses do not match, and whether AI was involved in preparing the correspondence.
I want to make sure you have the information you need to feel comfortable before proceeding with any interview arrangements. Your questions are completely reasonable, and I appreciate you raising them directly.

I'm getting two or three book promotion scam emails a day at my "work" address. One came in this morning "quoting" a prior email which had scraped my bio but put the wrong name on it. For once I actually responded. And maybe a human replied?
A screenshot of an email exchange.

The original email, a reply to an unsolicited offer to promote my book:

I've reported this email to the abuse team at Gmail, as I do every piece of book promotion spam that comes to this address.

The response from the spammer:

Alright
Best of luck regarding that

You won't believe this, but there's a German word for that
Screen cap from a BBC news article on US expansionism, which reads "Now, Trump has changed course, with aims to expand America's physical borders again, and limit the numbers of people the country lets in."

The German word in question is Lebensraum, literally "living space", the policy which saw the annexation of neighbouring countries in the 1930s for ethnic Germans to live in.

In early June 2013, I spent a week in London. It was green and lovely, one or two damp days, but perfect summer weather. Within a short time of getting back to LA we hit 40° and that was when I started my application for a UK visa. How 13 years has changed a place ...

Death by Lightning (the name of the series) was shot in Hungary so I expected some reuse of 19thC locations etc from The Terror, as well as stylistic motives of historical prestige miniseries. I was not expecting them to hire the same calligrapher.

The Canadians didn't even need to be on the front lines to be killed ... by the Americans. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarnak_... At the time, there was scuttlebutt (dunno how true) that none of the Allies wanted their base next to the Americans' because they had such a bad reputation for friendly fire.
Screenshot from BBC News article https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/czr444j671vo:
Donald Trump's claim that Nato troops stayed "a little off the front lines" during the war in Afghanistan is "disappointing", a minister has said.

Health and Social Care Minister Stephen Kinnock said the UK and other allies had "always stood shoulder to shoulder with the United States" and contributed to US-led missions.

On Thursday, Labour MP Emily Thornberry called it an "absolute insult" to the 457 British service personnel killed in the conflict, while Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey said: "How dare he question their sacrifice?"

Just saying. #scurvy
Screenshot from Wikipedia entry for scurvy, signs and symptoms: Early symptoms are malaise and lethargy. After one to three months, patients develop shortness of breath and bone pain. Myalgias may occur because of reduced carnitine production. Other symptoms include skin changes with roughness, easy bruising, and petechiae, gum disease, loosening of teeth, poor wound healing, and emotional changes (which may appear before any physical changes). Dry mouth and dry eyes similar to Sjögren's syndrome may occur. In the late stages, jaundice, generalised edema, oliguria, neuropathy, fever, convulsions, and eventual death are frequently seen.
