Alright hold on, wait a second.. The YouTube videos look fine played on Discord and on mobile but are only shit on browser.. What in the world?

Fox ♱ @twilighttfox.bsky.social · 13/01/2025

The same video with 8 different uploads trying different file types, bitrates, resolutions, and encoder settings. It looks great from my rendering but shit as soon as I wait for YouTube to process it. Even tried waiting a while after the upload :/

YouTube is killing me with the video quality it takes. I upload videos that are very clear quality but YouTube I assume compresses it a second time and it looks grain. I hate it

Fairly productive day. Brought in and cleaned off Christmas decorations from outside. Had time to shower cause it was raining and muddy out. Got a bunch of editing done for the next few days and have time to spare 👍

To be fair my main issue isn't the actual video. It seems to have trouble with the audio from the MOV. Comparatively the same video has no audio problems on youtube. Curious as to what changed that impacted it.

Fox ♱ @twilighttfox.bsky.social · 03/12/2024

Both file types have their use cases. I like MOV since it doesn't compress much and retains quality. MP4 is generally more accepted and compresses smaller but can lose quality. Tiktok does support many file types but recently seems to not like MOV. Trying MP4 on Tiktok for a bit to see~

Think the issue I've had with Tiktok recently has to do with file typing. They have been working on stuff which is nice but it seems to have impacted a few things. I like working with MOV format for lossless quality but it seems tiktok likes MP4 better. Though that comes with some quality loss.

From what I've looked into, not really.

Fox ♱ @twilighttfox.bsky.social · 02/12/2024

I've been noticing recently that the clips I post to TikTok are having the audio eaten and spat out. I put a lot of work into keeping my audio and video quality high but to see the quality of audio get massively downgraded by TikTok is sad. I haven't noticed this happening with Youtube~
