Book 47!
Cover for Wolf Worm by T KingfisherMy 4.25 star review of Wolf Worm
“Wolf Worm is a southern gothic horror novel that includes infestation, demons and the horrors that humans will go to in the name of revenge.
Kingfisher immediately transports you into her setting. An isolated house in the south, post civil war. You're in the narrators brain, and it's easy to get swept into her emotions & experiences as Kingfisher brings voice to her uncertainties, curiosities & anxieties.
This book kept me interested even as I was confused on how everything was going to fit together, and by god did they manage to all come together somehow. The pieces eventually click into place in a way that made the whole story feel incredibly satisfying.
As always, love Kingfisher. Her writing is so funny and descriptive. She always balances the horror just enough humor to keep it from becoming completely overwhelming. Although I definitely felt creepy-crawlies while reading. Eep!”

Book 45!
Cover for Harvest Season by Brynne WeaverMy 3.5 star review of Harvest Season: This is described as a romcom about serial killers, and that’s exactly what it is. These books are funny, emotional, and exciting, with relationships that are both sweet and tumultuous. The overall story is interesting and keeps you invested.
It’s a great read to kick off spooky season!
However, while the series isn’t over yet, I don’t think this story needed to be stretched into three books. This probably would’ve worked better as a duology.

Cover for The Lion & The Deathless DarkMy 4.25 star review for The Lion & Athena’s Deathless Dark
To be honest, I wasn’t super excited about this book after the last one, which fell a little flat for me. But I still wanted to see where the story would lead.
This book reminded me of what I love about Broadbent’s writing. She brought back more of the anger and power I love to see in her FMCs while still giving us an emotionally impactful story.
This is the seventh book set in this world, and Broadbent still manages to bring us new pieces of it while seamlessly intertwining previous characters and stories.

Book 43! Re-read continues. I really love Tatiana Maslany as a narrator. This book probably remains my fav of the original series

Book 42! I don’t feel like doing a review because I’ve read this book multiple times at this point. I want to re-read the series in prep for the new movie. This time I listened to the audiobook narrated by Tatiana Maslany and she’s excellent.

Book 41!
Cover art for The Knave & The MoonMy 4.75 star review of The Knave & The Moon
“My heart is broken & full.
Gillig writes such beautiful stories and wondrous worlds, and this book brought the story to a perfect close. We’re taken back out into the hamlets, which I know some readers may find repetitive, but the world of Traum is far too magical not to be a part of the story.
The continued themes of faith and truth were woven into every part of the story, right up until the very end.”

Book 40!
Cover art of Daggerbound by T KingfisherMy 4.5 star review for Daggerbound by T Kingfisher
““I Do Not Eat Human Meat”

Kingfisher manages to write cozy romances that are also filled with humor, suspense, and just a dash of horror. I love her World of the White Rat books, and I especially loved that this one brought characters and elements from the related series together.

Her couples are always so unique, and somehow she makes them fit together in the most perfect ways. She’s also incredibly good at building on a world we already know without ever making it feel repetitive or boring. Familiar, but still full of surprises.

Book 38! I’m taking a bit of break from DCC. While I still love the series I’m not *as* excited to read it. And I have some new releases to read! (New T Kingfisher & Rachel Gillig!)
Cover art for The Eye of the Bedlam My 4 star review for The Eye of the Bedlam Bride “Having never played card based games, the rules took me a bit to understand. But this book brought some incredible character development, along with more opportunities to interact with people we’ve only really seen through chats and saferooms in the last couple of books.

There were also some great moments of people calling Carl out on his constant need to control everything (but he’s stressed, I get it). Once again, this book dumps you straight into trauma and rolls right into the action, so you don’t always get much of a chance to process what’s happening.
While I think that’s an intentional reflection of how most of us live, I do wish the books gave us a little more time to breathe and sit with some of those moments.”

Book 37! It’s nice to have a short novella. The graphic audio was around 3hrs!
Cover art for “All Systems Red” by Martha WellsMy 4.5 star review for “All Systems Red”
“Martha Wells established characters, character development, world-building, and an entire story in a short novella and it was an impressive feat.
You jump right into the action and quickly get pulled into the mystery. There’s suspense, humor, and plenty of personality throughout. I legitimately laughed out loud.
For such a short story, it manages to pack in so much without ever feeling rushed. The author really knows how to make every moment count.”

It was so maddening ESPECIALLY because this argument started in person, I dropped it, then he sends a message into the group chat more than an hour later with “I’ve had more time to think about your prologue opinion” WHAT

Book 36! A re-read in preparation for the book 2 release.
Cover for “The Knight and the Moth”My 5 star review for The Knight and the Moth “One of my favorite books of 2025. Gillig is a master at crafting breathtaking settings and unique magic systems. This story balances light humor with a woman's journey into an unfamiliar world as she unlearns everything she's ever known. The romance is tender and beautiful. Anyone who has navigated religious trauma or deconstruction will feel this on a much deeper level. Plus, I absolutely loved that fucking gargoyle”

The nurses saw you all visiting. Your dad knew you had been visiting. No one thinks he wasn’t loved. I feel like in these situations there is always some guilt, some “I should have” or “what if” but try not to get buried in those feelings. Your dad loves you, you love your dad

Tbh since this kid is all fight & no flight ima little worried she may use it as a weapon. I have allowed her to buy mostly black clothes for the school year, per her request. And some fabric chokers. I may buy some studded bracelets/chokers for her.
