I’ll be hearing Coltrane tunes bouncing off the Hollywood hills tonight at this event. I must admit a bit of trepidation because it’s the Lincoln Center orchestra with WM directing. (I wish it were Kamasi and his band.) Benjamin is a very talented JC disciple, however.

Joni Mitchell, Blue - I’ve gotten a lot of miles from my copy, purchased in 1985 for $1.99 at Secondhand Tunes in Hyde Park, Chicago. In those days, two bucks went a lot further. That was almost two Leinenkugel’s at Jimmy’s Woodlawn Tap.

A marquee on the lower right shows The Sundowners, Chicago country music legends, the longest-running house band in history. The RR Ranch was on Madison in 1962 and later moved to Randolph, where I saw the band play in the ‘80s. “Club Be-Lo” refers to the fact that the bar was below street level.
