In my own way, I was able to relate to that agonising wait. In the days leading up to planned surgery over recess, I underwent scheduled and serious surgery. You trust the system around you. For some, that trust has been broken.

In 2025, the River Severn at Telford saw 335 sewage discharges across 16 sites, lasting 526 hrs. Meanwhile, Severn Trent’s profits rose 45% to £850m, while its new CEO could receive up to £3.1m. Across England, raw sewage was discharged for 1.9m hrs last year. It's been time to take back control.
