Figures just when I’ve paid it my course fees for my masters of applied manaplaining.
Promotional billboard for the university blocking entrance to building, it shows a man in flagrante describo about his last fishing trip and related matters. Five non-male-personages look on.

The idiom ‘run for the hills’ describes the act of decamping to avoid an unpleasant situation. However, running hills is itself not exactly a bed of roses, as I was reminded just now. 🤨

Starting line for this afternoon’s eight mile run thoughtfully included a motivational mantra, in case you forgot to pack one.
Photo of non-descript building with banner signage displaying motto of a suburban gym. Drop weight. Get strong. Become harder to kill. Not hard to kill mind you just harder. A bit more effort required. White fluffy clouds float overhead.

It is no coincidence that sports massage and sado-masochism share the same initials.

Commemorated this year’s international day of the girl child by going for a 5 mile run in the local nature reserve. It is my go to mode of commemoration, tbh.

TFW you lay on the grass for some innocent cloud bursting only to be interrupted by more UFOs* so you have to shake your fists and shout ‘get off my sky.’ * Unidentified Flapping Objects
Grainy footage of a flock of white birbs hiding about the penumbra and obviously up to no good. The sky is all shades of blue.More of same. Blur is likely due to use of some kind of jamming device.More birbs wheeling about just out of range.Wave after wave of the blighters.

Solstice at the industrial estate run club, when the sun rises fiery and raw along the axis of the main drag.
The photographer captures the moment that the sun crowns over the horizon, a downscale cityscape in the foreground, while waiting for some other runners to turn up already so they can make their ritualistic sacrifice to the jogging gods.

Chilling in the bay after today’s five miler. Pace was quicker than usual for my easy run, possibly an artefact of the recent short duration intervals.
Photo of ocean taken from a sandy beach into the sunshine, the light glistening off the wind swell.

There’s still hope! I also listened to episode 139 (on the Norwegian method) and tried the 45/15 second repeats workout. It was fun way to escape the usual heart rate and pace.

Visited coffee roasters this morning to get first run on the board for month and pick up some beans. A misty morning kept the numbers down.

Currently at Maxwell Smart (86) miles for the month. So, would you believe at this present moment that you are surrounded by a squad of highly trained running-ninjas? No, well how about believing that I am in striking distance of a 100 mile month three-peat?!

Not so much a policy position as yet another honeypot for political donations from the mining sector. (If paedophiles were millionaires these guys would be promising to lower the age of consent.)

Tallied 21.2km running this afternoon under a blue sky, made a day of it and headed down to the bay, many people about as well as a sea breeze.
Middle aged runner pauses for a photo in spring sunshine, he is wearing a blue cap and bandana and dark shirt and glasses. A boulevard of palm trees tower above the path.

Another run done in the afternoon sun, didn’t pass any other runners, feels like they all had a party and didn’t invite me, again, only possible explanation with the lovely weather.

Today’s run was 3km easy on the flat path and 4km hills. The hills made me work a little harder on the way up but much easier on the way down, like slow motion intervals.

We have the exact same number of winter days as other cities although ours aren’t consecutive, we like to shuffle at least a few into every month of the year.

Camouflaged against the skinny trees on today’s run along the trail.
A runner pauses to stretch, he wears dark clothes and legs pale again after another winter, skinny like the trees that climb towards a light blue sky.

Big chef’s kiss on this story. I eagerly await the next chapter in which we might learn more about the identity of the poster. I’m currently on the fence as to whether it was the phone AI (mistaking an innocent voice command as ‘post lewds’) or the penis wanting its ‘De Mille moment’.

My local coffee roastery hosts a running group at 7am on. Friday morning. It’s in an industrial estate, absolute garbage place to run. Trucks, driveways, narrow, cracked pavements, dumped tyres and trash, electric substation, workers in hi-vis huddling about smoking, big Cormac McCarthy vibe.

Mixed it up and did some fartlek today, if the name sounds a little amusing to our ears it is because it has been borrowed from the ancient language of the Speed-play tribes, who anthropologists learned used it to refer to the landmass that today we call Sweden.

Look hear me out. Only the true messiah denies its divinity, and Barnaby can turn anything into a whine. I mean, maybe he’s not the Christ but would it really be that much effort to crucify him to be sure?

Springtime, the season when a young man's fancy lightly turns to thoughts of love, and old men turn to thoughts of interval training on loamy trails, dry again after the winter rains and a bit easier on the joints.

No run today however I reenacted a scene from the 1970s motion picture “Marathon Man” during my visit to the dentist, i.e., had a filling without local anaesthetic, so consider I remained “running adjacent”.
Is the seated man in this photograph Dustin Hoffman during a torture scene from the motion picture Marathon Man, or me raw dogging a filling at the local dentist, impossible to tell.

What gets my goat with these people *waves hands vaguely* is how they think it is perfectly legitimate to load the political tables in their own interests even when inconvenient laws stand in their way.

Clocked up 100 miles for the month, very much a stretch distance for me, and for the second month *running*, on the back of a series of longer days on the trail. A nice sense of achievement to offset the stiff muscles.

Slipped in a puddle on today’s run. Left me with a numb leg for a minute must have struck my ‘funny bone’. Very happy that the feeling when it returned was more benign than ouch.

Hit 7000km logged on the running app with this afternoon’s tootle along the creek. Started in 2020 when I ran during the outdoor hour that we were allowed while the city was locked down.

Grateful for another hour on a trail today, an out and back on the urban fringe, passed a man riding a horse, twice, they are much bigger than I remember when they are coming toward you on a narrow path. Managed to clock my 10km target time after a slow start.

Sure, this rates well for its puerile sexism and the gormless denial, but let’s not forget the stupidity to perform for a YouTuber in the first place and the mid-beige-norm-core of this cretin’s hello fellow kid’s act.

A welcome splash of sunshine during today’s 7 mile trail run, stayed just long enough to take a selfie. Vitamin D always lifts the mood I find.
Middle aged runner smiles inanely for a photo midway along a trail, no creatures can be seen in the photo as this is an *enchanted* forest.

Stopped during today’s 10km run to pick up a lemon from a give away basket, remembering they are $2 at the shops, and carried it like I was legging it in a fruit-baton based ekiden. Citrius, Altius, Fortius!

The announced budget airline carry on fee has me like, but tbh I would pay upward of 20AUD if the crew were cosplaying characters from Carry On Up The Khyber.

Various acacia trees are now in bloom, a good reason to slow down on the trail, and keep close to a waddle (wattle) pace. Also, the path is a slippery customer after the rain.

If you can go for a run… go for a run. The run won’t fix what’s broken but it will help you. The run won’t heal all the wounds or solve all the problems but it will help you. And we need you… to help do all the things that running can’t do. This is about running. This is not about running.

An 8 mile lunchtime run to welcome the last month of winter. The clear sky made for overnight frost but crystal blue daytime.
