Tumblerless. Nothing about it says "Magic". It doesn't belong here. Making it Standard legal was probably the most egregious. This product is "Not for Me"™ but I can't ignore it as a competitive player. UB sets should be designated as Commander only products and never be legal for tournament play.

"Right in front of my UU" is incredible work.

Secret Lair, Monday: incapable of selling me the thing I want because trash system is trash. Secret Lair, Wednesday: marketing email about coming back soon to spend more money when I wasn't able to spend money previously Excellent work.

"This new product you want is live but you can't buy it because our system is fully set up to benefit scalpers and resellers only. Thanks for sitting in line." - WotC

Of course I could buy the fish deck instantly on eBay from scalpers who don't even have it yet for $250.

Typical SL horse shit shopping experience. Wait in line only to be told to go fuck myself during check out. Small indie company can't be asked to do any better.

Opened a case of TMT boosters and what a deeply unenjoyable experience that was.

Very much enjoy Cosmoctopus. Need to play it more.

Praise be for resources like SpiceRack and Scryfall. I've found the official equivalents to border on unusable in most cases.

Karoo makes my brain happier because I'm old. Let's go with that.

Format dependent. Modern? Bounce land. Commander? Karoo.

Little jealous of folks who determined they won't buy any of the Turtles set after seeing all of the rares/mythics. If any of the cards are Standard playable I'll have to buy them anyway and that's the worst part of UB for me. I can't skip a thing I really dislike if it wins tournaments.

TurnOneChalice @turnonechalice.bsky.social · 15/11/2025

Into the Floodmaw might be the second best card in Standard, right behind Quantum Riddler.

I opened 2 booster boxes and had fun until I realized I couldn't actually build a deck with my cards. I don't own enough runes to build any legal deck! I've only played with slightly upgraded starter decks so far but the game looks neat!

The combination of being disheartened about Magic and being incapable of buying Riftbound locally or online for anything near MSRP is really making the week a drag.

As a specifically tournament EDH player this is pressing for me and a very small subset of players. Official tEDH policy from WotC. An MTR and IPG adapted for commander events that cEDH TOs can use to bring consistency to events.

As someone who runs a card shop I only noticed these because they created filing errors in our system. I didn't have time to realize they had a story to them because I had to care about ATLA on EOE prerelease weekend.

Tomorrow probably determines how much constructed Magic I play for the next 6 months. Neat.

000

TurnOneChalice @turnonechalice.bsky.social · 29/06/2025

Modern sure is rancid right now. Games aren't good, fun, or interesting and I'm not sure the powers that be at WotC give a fuck what's going on as long as commander players buy booster packs.

000

TurnOneChalice @turnonechalice.bsky.social · 11/06/2025

Spirit Island tries to solve this by having complex, asymmetric character powers and enough moving pieces that it would very difficult for a single person to micromanage.

000

TurnOneChalice @turnonechalice.bsky.social · 26/05/2025

You wouldn't find me in an 11 hour cEDH finals because 90 minutes in I would get DQ'ed for USC Major when I told someone to shut the fuck up and play.

020

TurnOneChalice @turnonechalice.bsky.social · 14/05/2025

As a cEDH player I want that card jettisoned into the sun. Games are never improved by it's presence. Smothering Tithe can get in the same rocket. Right into the sun.
