Pocketchange or not, it is money. The economies of major European countries are increasingly becoming strained with debt burden and mass layoffs growing. The worse the economy is, the easier it is for Russian disinfo to spread. When DE or FR fall to pro-Russian parties, that's horrible news for UA.

It doesn't need to hurt Russian economy - just benefitting European economy is sufficient. Them (and I'm sure oligarchs are only a fraction of nearly 0.5mil tourists) having to spend their dough in Dubai instead of Rome does absolutely nothing to end the war.

For security reasons, I can agree with tougher restrictions and more stringent vetting. But to postulate (like other commentators do) that no Russian should be allowed to come to the EU is just wrong. Keep the ties and remind them they are just lost, prodigal children of Europe.

Back in 2025, when the Musk-Ukraine Starlink dispute arose, there was a short spike of interest (and needle-shaped skyrocketing of share price) in Eutelsat. Just a few days ago we have witnessed a first commercial rocket launch in Europe (Isar), so there is a hope.
