A no-AI policy is the best policy. You start making excuses here and there, and before you know it you're riding a landslide down that slippery slope.

I'm still working on finding others, but I definitely write what gives me joy. I couldn't do it well otherwise.

Is there such a thing as ethical AI use? Is that not an oxymoron?

Aino Aura (Áidnu Ávrá) Järvinen @tulsaghoul.bsky.social · 15h

I loathe AI for many reasons. One of them is that the e-mail examples I've seen are composed in the way I was taught to write business letters in my first computer class. I've been doing this for decades. Being informal feels disrespectful to the recipient. I understand the reason. I just hate this.

Every time I open the drapes, there's a part of me that expects to see a wendigo, Baskerville hound, etc. I don't know why I'm like this.

All I want is a 200-year-old farmhouse in Sápmi surrounded by kilometers of nature where I can write my novels from a pile of books and cats. We never asked for AI and fascism.

It feels like a good day to share this quotation. Fuck Columbus. Uplift Indigenous stories. #IndigenousPeoplesDay

"Colonialist society had forced shame into the minds of every Indigenous person, compounding over generations and conditioning them to keep their culture quiet for the sake of survival. It was the same for Lakota as it was Sámi and numerous other peoples around the world, the same coloniser protocol of exotification, exploitation, and eradication. It took ages to reverse such insidious brainwashing. The fact that Ghost wasn’t ostentatious about his heritage didn’t mean he wasn’t proud."

I live on Cherokee land and will mention it whenever I can because we need to remember. Horror is not just a genre. It's part of our past, and unfortunately our present. It's our duty to remind those in power that we don't want to repeat history. #IndigenousPeoplesDay

Chiitan loves transgender people from the bottom of my heart🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈 From a fairy like Chiitan, it seems natural for everyone to live as their true selves. That’s why, until the day Chiitan disappears and is gone, I’ll keep sending gentle messages so that all transgender people can live happily.

Unsolicited writing advice, no. 8260: Whatever genre you write, read folklore. Folklore exists because at some point, people cared so much about a certain thing that they put it into a story, and passed it down the centuries in order to keep it alive. That deserves attention.

Trans rights are human rights

An illustration of David Lynch portraying the character Gordon Cole in Twin Peaks Season 3 on top of a background of black and white chevrons. Around him are the words FIX YOUR HEARTS OR DIE, a variation on a larger exchange in the show spoken with the transgender character Denise Bryson: "When you became Denise I told all of your colleagues, those clown comics, to fix their hearts or die." The image is colored in white, pink, and blue to reflect the trans flag.
